I think Qiyana is a cool champ, but wtf is that ulti?

Normally I dislike assassins in general. I think they are too edgelordy for my tastes.

Qiyana's character is a pretty cool design for an AD Assassin. Its a nice change from the dark-stabby-man trope.

That being said, I cant understand why the hell Qiyana (an assassin), has an ultimate that would be better suited on an immobile control mage. She already has stealth and mobility and one shot potential, even without the ulti.

Like Qiyana basically has Syndra's Scatter the Weak, combined with a Rumble ultimate thats easier to target and does all its damage up front (not to mention it also fking STUNS you).

How does it make sense to give an assassin an ultimate that can decide a team fight before it even starts?

Remember when Riot, during the assassin reworks said "we don't think its healthy for assassins to have too much CC, mobility and tools to get in and out yes but not too much strong CC." (paraphrased of course b/c i dont remember and am too lazy to look up the exact quote).

Then s9 happened, and a lot of what riot has previously said about balance seems to fly out the window.

been questioning that for a while, in b4 you get downvoted by the qiyana fanbois

her ult would fit taliyah more

I think it's pretty clear that Riot could give 2 shits less about balance lol Just throw a bunch of shit onto a champ and see what sticks, 1 out of every 4-5 champs become a $kin machine, so who cares. Game feels like a mobile game atm

the stun from R should be removed

Why does Qiyana's ult deal MAX HEALTH DAMAGE?

That being said, I cant understand why the hell Qiyana (an assassin), has an ultimate that would be better suited on an immobile control mage.

Most control mages have those high impact abilities on a basic ability instead of their ultimate. Keep in mind Qiyana is more like Ekko, a utility assassin (skirmisher Assassin I believe is the term here). She doesn't have the level of burst of a TRUE ASSASSIN Diana Talon Zed but compensates for it by offering utility to her team.

How does it make sense to give an assassin an ultimate that can decide a team fight before it even starts?

It's League of Legends nothing makes sense but it works fine.

What? There is no way putting a tank ult on an assasin is broken. Don't you see that a character with high mobility and survibability has no reliable way of landing a huge AOE in the pergect angle to hit the entire team? Not to mention, with her being an asssasin she needs that damage, even though his basic abilities already oneshot most people in 1 rotation.

Sarcasm aside, it's pretty clear that they tried to create a high-skilled assasin with an utility ult, kind of like LeeSin , but then they saw the community's reaction to that SWEET body and decided to overbuff her and turn her into another skin whore. You know, Riot Gam€$.

I love Qiyana, but I'd honestly rather trade some of her ult utility for raw damage numbers that Diana, Talon, or Zed has.

But practically, her ult should only travel a set distance at each rank, reaching the current ult status now at rank 3 but heavily nerfing her impact early.

ProfDrDeath11/13/2019, 10:27:42 PM3 votes

Qiyana is going to be one of S10's Sylas/Irelia/Akali-type of champions, mark my words.

Unless someone at Riot decides to get rid of the ult stun. If that's done, the rest of her kit should boil down to a numbers problem.

So Dark stabby assassin is not ok, but another stereotypical high mobility tiddy anime girl is great right? The number 1 rule in League is if the character is an anime girl, she is top tier with a kit that does everything. Akali Qiyana Riven

etc

xelaker11/13/2019, 4:47:52 AM2 votes

I hate her. She has so much friggin stuff crammed into her kit and her ult is just the worst to deal with.

She isn't really safe like other assassins. Also you can dodge all of her spells. Alot of people don't know this but you can even evade her ult if you get directly hit by it. If you spam flash, a fast dash, stopwatch, or a blink while you are being knocked back by the first part of it you can avoid the stun part which can save you in a tight situation.

Zed Akali Leblanc Ekko Evelynn Fizz they all have abilities that allow them to escape from a fight. Qiyana is more like a traditional assassin where she goes in bursts them and either lives or dies. The only exception to this is Grass Q, but even then its situational (bushes are not all over the map) and it's in a small telegraphed area. Also once she leaves the bush she also can't get back in. I guess you could also say that her Ult knockback enables her to escape easily, but it's not really that far (similar to Taliyah's knockback but a little less, it doesn't push back all the way of the full ult, only like 1/3 of it). The importance of her lack of escape is that, once she misplays she's basically a sitting duck.

Personally, I think she has a little too much utility on river Q but other than that she's alright. She has the same issue as Akali where she's very good in higher elos but kinda mediocre in low elo.

BrokenRayquaza11/14/2019, 12:18:38 PM1 votes

Incoming downvotes but her ulti actually has more counterplay that everyone let's on. You can not stand near walls or dodge it. Not to mention qiyanas mobility is tied to if she's close to you or she wastes a very important ability in her ability pool. (Which does get a pretty low CD late game I will admit) but I seriously don't get why people are complaining about her besides the fact she's mega good in proplay.

LightswornLance11/13/2019, 3:21:54 AM1 votes

Talon and Zed are the only "dark stabby man" assassins in the game...

Sexy Jack Rabbit11/13/2019, 8:32:57 AM1 votes

Qiyana is interesting as a champion design in that comparison to the previous 2 reintroduced Assassins Pyke and Akali she's very 'Meh' in a lot of ways.

Pyke and Akali were so defining for the class that she just feels very lackluster in both visual and kit design.

I think her ult feels so insane because she's just kind of boring in general.

SpaceWolf11/13/2019, 6:09:18 PM1 votes

Her ult blades that go around the terrain goes too fast, its needs to slow down.

FallingMeteor11/13/2019, 8:00:42 PM1 votes

Although I really hate Qiyana's ult, I hate her E more. Basically for whatever reason it makes her Q homing, so her E+Q makes her have a point and click stun or burst that's unflashable.

Eternal Torment11/14/2019, 4:22:52 AM1 votes

I think the only saving grace is that qiyana's ult only deals damage if the stun actually hits. Imagine if the damage was upfront, THAT would be broken.

iDarkWind11/14/2019, 11:01:28 AM1 votes

And you only have a problem with her ultimate? Her Q element of Water is also ridiculous to have on an assassin. 0.5 seconds root is perfectly enough to setup a whole combo from an assassin. If that isn't enough, if she can get close to the brushes you waste a lot of time trying to kill her because the duration of stealth and the reset / cooldown from her Q are extremly low.

She just doesn't make any sense. Any other AD assassin mid laner cannot be compared to her, since she's far easier to play and offers a lot more to the team, while having lane dominance like Talon. And let's not ignore the previous point I made that she has hard CC and stealth while being an assassin.
