@Riot- why is the ranking system so behind the scenes/secret?

I'm just curious why so much that affect rank is hidden. MMR, formula's involved, MMR averages per match, why are these things hidden?

People tend to do better and make better choices with more info. I feel like if for example you knew after a match opponents had higher MMR or lower it would bring a little clarity or understanding to the matches and matchmaking in general

To avoid people from gaming the system and using the exact points that MMR is based on to advance higher then they should be.

Same reason they do elo boosting/cheating/3rd party software bans in waves, to avoid the users from finding out how they are being detected and stop it
