How to Vayne in to Draven?

Hello guys, this is a question mainly for adc mains or vayne/draven mains, but feel free to reply. So i have atm about 300 ranked games as vayne, and maybe another 200 normals under my belt with the same champ. Vayne is the champ i mained this season from bronze 5 to Gold. i’m not the best, but compared to most people i come across at my elo, i’m usualy able to beat other bot lanes even in lane, often, where vayne is suppose to be weak. there seems to be 1 exeption to that, being draven, where it doesn’t seem to matter if the person has 5 ranked games with draven, they can still cary the game super hard always, it doesn’t seem to matter how behind draven gets, i remember going 3/0 in to draven who was 0/3 and he was still able to beat me in a 1v1, like hes dm output was still ridiculously higher, and this happens so often... I know i’m not gosu and that’s why i can’t beat him most of the time, but how should i play this match up exactly? And plz don’t say play supper passive because that’s just the general vayne lane strategy always, so i know, just doesn’t work when leona dives me with him. How do i out trade draven? Like wtf do i do? Cause it seems that every time im able to ult, steath condem him in to a wall (ideal dueling for scenario for vayne), the stun ends and he just 2 shots me every fucking time, i don’t know wtf to do

You don't. Accept the fact that he hard counters you.

He is one of the few champions who can keep up with her in lane since he has the option of rushing lifesteal first, and can 1v1 Vayne at all stages of the game because 2 axes to the face will kill you immediately. Other than that, he is much less slippery than Vayne and isn't as good against armored targets, so he is more reliant on his team's protection. Fact of the matter is unless you can stun him into a wall, you won't be able to deal with him on your own.

Now I'm going to try to be kind with my words since you seem to be 1 of the 5 non-toxic vayne mains, but fact of the matter is your favorite champion is bullshit by design and has few counters as it is right now, and since Draven takes more skill to play properly he has every right to outplay Vayne.

hm well, i would completely disagree that she's bs, i think she is one of the few hopes left for ADC's in this meta, since she is very strong vs tanks. shes quite easy to beat honestly, often times when the enemy team picks i know it's a free win, since we can just leona/graves the lane and it's usually an instant win. This is coming from some one who has honestly been grinding the champion for a LONG time, vayne has MANY...i mean MANY counters. to say draven is a harder champion to play is quite a statement, considering she has the weakest laning phases of all adc's, one of the shortest ranges, and lowest base stats. For me to actually start wining games with vayne it actually took me a few hundred games, not 10 like most other champions i play secondly. I don't really think draven is BS, in fact the idea of there being another adc that can dish out that much dm that quick is fun, makes me hope that the meta for adc's will become less stale some day, question was mainly on how to duel draven properly as vayne and what other tools i could make use of, not witch is bs and witch is not. Most people who see other vayne players doing well, and i have had this kind of shit said to me since bronze 5, that it actually takes no skill to play vayne, yet if you look up the lolking of the people who say vayne is easy or shes OP usualy don't play her at all or have negative win rates, the champion is mcuh fucking harder to play then most people will ever realize...honestly if i decided to main master yi i probably could be plat by now, but i refuse to play champs like that because i mainly play the game for fun, and if something is to broken i usually don't have fun with say, new: Darius, Mord adc, annie, master yi, skarner etc. as a matter of fact i'll use Kassadin and hecarim, my second mains. i have maybe a top of 100 games played with each, total, yet better win rates....vayne i have around 600 and worst win-rate, i don't play her because i think shes all that great for solo Q lol i just play her because the champ is cool and fun, i feel like most adc's are boring and easy, i have played all of them, vayne seems to be the only real challenge, witch is why i keep playing her. I don't buy that there is nothing that can be done in the Draven vs vayne match-up though, i think i'm just not good enough or lack some sort of knowledge about the match up.

Weakest laning phase? Not true. She has 550 range auto attacks (higher than some others) and has a knockback stun and low cd dash. Invis free ad ult. If you farm till botrk instead of trying to fight others you will get past her average early game into her op mid - late game. ALSO I get what you mean saying adcs are supposed to be strong, BUT one adc cant be strong with the rest not as strong. ALSO her true smg % max hp has no real counterplay. The fed tank is supposed to be strong.

You can't expect to rush attack speed (many Vaynes go for BORK+PD - good luck with that vs Draven) and outtrade someone who deals massive dmg with his empowered attacks (Draven will go for IE + Statikk/Ghostblade or BT+Statikk/Ghostblade). Without his axes his dmg is lower than Vayne's. You need displacement support or team and Draven is useless - pick Maokai jungle or top and Draven will have a hard time.

So you think maxing Q and going IE in that lane would be better?

IE won't save you unless the RNG gods are on your side. Better farm and don't fight or fight only, if your support is a god.

There's not much you can do being that Draven will directly out trade you at every point in the game even if you're ahead; the only thing you can do in a lane like that is either wait for your jungler or you have to be paired with a support who can lock draven down and make him miss his axes such as a Leona or thresh. Other than that you really just have to play like a bitch and not give him kills

These two carries are problematic cause they can outtrade even burst caster carries like Lucian, who should be their natural counter at every stage of the game.

Also most vaynes rush botrk, don't expect to outtrade Draven with that.

Your best bet is to try to trade with him when he misses catching his ax. Most of his power comes when his axes are spinning. Auto him once or twice then stun him into a wall so you can get off more autos (make sure bushes are warded so you don't miss out on autos if you have to stun him into a bush). If you see his wind up for his displacement then tumble to the side, he faces the direction he's going to toss it. Also, it may be better if your support is someone that can burst him down. When his axes are in the air there is a tell on the ground where it will land (and where Draven will be headed to catch it) and that is the perfect place to put a skill shot or an AOE spell.

Do not under any circumstances engage on him when he has 2 axes spinning.
