What if whe give Cho some mobility

CoolKnightST··7 votes·978 views

Some thing that I always found anyoing on Chogath is that he's never able to fully utilize his auto attacks. That's why I came with this idea

#Feast (R) PASSIVE: Cho'Gath gains % movementspeed depending on his missing stacks when walking towards an enemy champion. This passive is disabled when Feast is on cooldown (700 range).

  • MOVEMENTSPEED BOOST: 9% (-1.5% / stack)

This will mean ones Cho'Gath hit level 6 he get's a 9% movementspeed boost when he's walking towards enemy champions when Feast is not on cooldown. While in 700 range away from him. That will give him arround 31 MS (33 MS with boots & 44 MS with boots of M). Good for some nasty ganks after level 6.

Ones he get one stack. Cho will lose 1.5% every additional stack. This will mean, if cho manage to gain full stacks (6). Cho no longer benefits from this passive.

maybe 100? so he can be a real tank? more seriusly, imagine how big he'd get with 12 stacks O.O

I would be ok to not get any health past 6 stacks but instead just get larger.

I do think Cho needs some mobility. He simply can't keep up with the new champions anymore. It's bad enough that his abilities are easily avoided, rubbing him the ability to even use auto attacks put the lid on it.

I think the issue is the 'high risk high return' of his Q. It can be hard to hit, but it also has monstrous CC and damage when it lands.

The problem with his Q it was designed at a point of time where champions where much less mobile (e.g. even before the boots rework where boots lost significant movementspeed while it was added to everybody's base movementspeed)..

Not to mention that these days everybody is much more mobile.

It used to be high risk, high reward. Now it's too high risk for a medicore reward. (In comparison how strong the CC of new champions is)

They've reduced the delay since the ability was designed

I wasn't ware of that, my bad. However it still feels incredibly easy to dodge.

That'd make him really snowbally and unpleasant to face, there is little counterplay for the buff you suggest.

As a regular Cho player, I know he's very strong as is and would rather he only had a better base attack speed so you have better incentive to build AS.

I honestly think everything he has is very strong and if anything is buffed he is likely to be OP.

Maybe a walking animation improvement? He has 345 MS but it feels like 335.

Oh, I just realized it gets less each feast. I guess it's.. okay, but it feels gimmicky as your incentive to build AS is less when you're ahead ?

When in reality you should build AS when you're ahead of the enemy so it's not the optimal fix for the E problem; but it's something.

just run 2 ms quints and swift boots(or that thing that gives you 20ms on your boots) sounds stupid but honestly yiou need it to land any Q's past level 13 lol. the high base MS champions that got released over and over ruined chogath's late game

He does need a little more mobility, but there are a few things that could be changed from this:

  1. Why does it become inactive when Feast is on cooldown? It doesn't make any sense. That makes the buff too underpowered because immediately after he noms something he loses all of that movement speed for 4-8 seconds. This means that if he doesn't kill a minion or monster with it, or hits an enemy champion with it but doesn't kill them, he is literally just debuffing himself by up to 9% of his movement speed.

  2. Another thing that doesn't make sense: why does he only have the bonus movement speed when he is moving towards an enemy? If the enemy backs off into the fog of war, then the passive becomes useless.

  3. Even considering the above, why does he only have the passive when the enemy is within 700 units? That is a much shorter distance than you seem to think.

Whe have to be really carefull regarding any buffs towards Chogath. Whe all now how effective cho was in the old days. Also whe really don't want to heavy impact his current playstyle. Not to mention promoting full AP & full Crit builds.

+/- 35 more movementspeed is a big deal so you really have to start with focussing this power on his playstyle. Than if he's still need some love you have the option to expand his tools.

This limitations make a lot sence on Cho. The point of the passive is to be able to get in the fight more quickly & make his ganks more dangerous. Whe really won't want to change him into a kiting monster. I would rather have some more movementspeed that empower his current options than giving him an smaller number with more options.

Since he will slowly lose the passive the more stacks he get whe really don't want to make the passive more attractive than not dieing. But when it happends it can help him back in the game.

Punishment for using his ult? Lets not make another Olaf. Benefits should be benefits.

When it comes to Cho, I'm quite ok with him not having gap closers. I would rather emphasize the feeling of him being a behemoth at 6 stacks. Some ideas:

  1. Provide bonus effects on abilities at full stacks (does not have to be damage)
  2. Provide a short duration, small sized AoE slow where he steps.

Suddenly Cho'Gath runs rampant in lane and is nigh unstoppable because his one weak point is no longer there...

At full stacks he needs to be able to kill (ordinary) lane minions by just walking on them. Rawr.

how about no? not every champ needs high or mid mobility, while other champs have burst dmg or tankiness or mobility, cho can build full ap and still tank serious dmg via ROA and his ultimate, also has 2 lock down skills and a (pretty beast when you have lots of ap) execute that gives you health if you kill the unit, with recent buffs he gets less cd if you feast a minion, so no, he dosnt need mobility when he can disable enemy team, twice while (literally) eating the adc with a point and click skill that does true dmg and scales off ap and soaking big amounts of dmg

Cho got a massive indirect buff with the pre-season jungle changes. Jungle Cho can now use chilling smite to lead into his Q, making the CC far more reliable.
