If this cass rework doesn't work out so well in the long run...

At what point does riot have to come in and say, maybe it's time to give cass a proper full rework?

I know things are still early after the MYMU and riot is going to try and buff her in the next 2 weeks, however the early reviews on Cass version 8.95 seem lack luster. The old passive had to go, but the new one has questionable value in this faster meta. People don't seem to like how her new kit plays overall and I'm not sure if that's a number issue or not. She also is one of the big losers in the mages don't get mana regen aspect of the MYMU; she's always been particularly mana intensive if the other team doesn't quickly blow her up, and in the past was a candidate for the athene's+seraph staff combo which wouldn't work on her anymore. Sure her E refunds mana costs on killing a minion, which is better than nothing, but she's still a machine gun spammer.

No matter what happens, it seems like Cass's gameplay is something riot has had real issues in getting right. Granted, there are big issues with fan expectations as well to the point riot almost needs to make another 2-3 poison mages just to relieve pressure from Cass. Still, it seems like despite being one of the oldest champs in the game she's the one riot can't figure out.

To me it feels like Cassio died and this new Cass is a different champion, I don't know if I have to will to play LoL anymore without Cass in it, she was LoL to me.

The new Cass is not a bad champ but not what I fell in love with about a year ago when I first played her.

What do other real mains think about her rework?

I hate it

It's worse than Stashu's reinvention, which I hated so much I stopped playing for a long time.

So...

Not a good reception over here.

yea. I totally think she is caught between places and it is almost like 2 mages in 1. She is a poison mage and a sustain spam mage. Kinda hard to fit into one champ when they can easily be 2 champs.

They should remove the poison aspect of her and make a new poison mage and fully rework Cass into a spam sustain mage.

Except she's a snake... and her personality and theme fits that of a treacherous, manipulative, underhanded person. That screams "poison" to me more than "mage who spams phantom teeth at you". She's thematically someone who would freaking poison you then laugh as you died. Balls-in aggression and spam are more out of character than something more sinister and debilitating as DoTs and playing keep-away while she makes you weaker and weaker via her venoms.

just give us our poison mage already. This is getting laughable

They don't!

Like the Stashu rework, her playerbase (which won't grow) will just have to get used to it until they decide they want to shift her identity in to something new.

Also, her refund on E was nerfed in this patch as well (it used to restore 3% of your maximum mana in addition to the cost, now it's just the cost) which makes her even more mana punishing.

Probably due to the new mana item changes... especially Tear / Seraph's.

And sure, her early levels before tear and punishing now and will probably get addressed later. After she gets Tear, she's just fine.

She needs a fullbown relaunch, it has become quite obvious that they can't get her in a viable or healthy state as long as she keeps her 6 year old kit. She needs to be re-invented completely, no more halfassed reworks.

Cass never needed a rework. They've given her three and she's still pretty awful. But they're NEVER going to just revert things... so it doesn't matter. I gave up on Cass a long time ago. And Skarner. And Morde. And Fiora. And now they've ruined Viktor for me.

Face it, if you enjoy playing an underplayed champion, riot will eventually butcher them in front of you. Let's all just main Zed and Lee Sin like they want us to, so we never have to worry about it.
