Completely ridiculous.

Just because you’re still traumatized about 80% banrate early-mid season 6 Zed doesn’t stop him from getting buffs as seen fit.

Be honest, are there any champs that need nerfs, or is riot just going to continue buffing damage to infinity?

Vekkna2 votes

No, all the champs with 53-55% win rates are totally fine and not overtuned at all.

WW's not a problem, bad players are. In KR he has a 1.3% ban rate and in NA it's 43%. It's not as if he's not played in KR, they still pick him ~6% of the time but his winrate is just ~52% which is normal for a champion with a generally useful kit and lacking the mechanical difficulty of picks like Lee (which is why Lee's winrate tends to be depressed even when he's broken). WW has a relatively predictable kit that punishes a lot of SQ mistakes. I don't know how top laners STILL die to him ~2:45 when almost every WW clears 3 camps and ganks their lane (since WW can't actually do raptors or krugs in a reasonable amount of time - quite dependent on getting 1050g for Tiamat). There's a reason WW is not seen almost ever in LCS.

WW is a problem we will have to agree to disagree there. He has unlimited Sustain in the jungle so he never has to back, great dueling Potential, an extremely Buggy Q that can travel with flashes/dashes, High base stats to make up for a lack of complexity in his Kit, and a massive Damage reduction skill to allow him to build Damage if he wants or just be an unkillable tank. He is currently pick or ban tier in high elo and has a pretty solid win rate (though i don't put much merit in win rates)

What's your point exactly?

Zed has been sitting on the throne of champion.gg's overall performance for months now and he has been getting more and more buffs in every PBE cycle. It can't remain unseen that Riot prefers some champions over others. I know he is hard to play and he is getting countered etc. etc., I simply do not care. He has been my first and only band for the last few months and I'm sure this won't change in the near future. His damage and scaling numbers are ridiculously high and his low CD abilities with 2 mobility ability makes him a pain in the butt. It is no fun to lane against him because his power spikes are too high and his trading and farming are better than anyone else's because the main problem on mid lane is that you run out of mana in 3-5 mins no matter what. And guess who's got no mana at all? Yes, you are right: Zed.

If Riot preferred Zed over other champions, we'd have gotten a Zed skin pretty soon after his Death Sworn skin (like Miss Fortune got Gun Goddess and Lux got Lunar Empress).

If a champion is super popular and preferred by Riot (i.e. Ezreal, Ahri, Lux), Riot won't need to buff them (even though they sometimes do), as their mere presence is enough to bring in skin sales.

Zed is not preferred in the slightest over other champions.

A pretty big change was made to Zed's overall damage when DBlade was nerfed, and they're buffing/nerfing him to get him to a better place than he was throughout early S8, but to not as broken of a state as S6/late S7 Zed. He's not getting ONLY buffs.

Anyone with half a braincell would know what to play against him and how to play against him.

Pick Kassadin? Nope. You deserve to lose. Sorry.

Pick Annie? Pretty easy win if you keep pressuring him and denying him CS. Flash+R.

Pick Talon? You best hope you're a good assassin main, otherwise you'll get shat on if you don't know what to do. It's a skill matchup.

Pick Morgana? W to punish him for going in for CS, and Q if he missteps. E will block his passive proc on you. R is a death sentence if he's used up his W already.

Pick Yasuo? Once again, a skill matchup, but Yasuo has the advantage from 1-5. It's at level 6+ you need to be careful.

I could have bet that you are a Zed main with your 210k+ points on him. By the way, I had a very intense and not-so-peaceful agrument with a Zed main a few weeks ago so I don't want to make the same mistakes this time, therefore I want to let you know that I don't want to insult either you or your main champion. I just want you to see with my (and many other players') eyes. If it's ok for you, then keep reading, but if you feel like you can't take some agruments against Zed, then please forget about this comment.

First of all, Riot gives skins to popular champions and not to champions they prefer. You have listed a few of those popular champions, including Ezreal, Ahri and Lux. Riot gets their money from skins and in order to get more money, you have to make skins many players will buy. What skins will many players buy? Skins for the most popular champions. Skins have got **nothing ** at all to do with gameplay. Does this mean that Annie, Ryze, Blitzcrank and Teemo are all preferred over other champions just because they have got many skins? Not at all.

Secondly, I am talking about gameplay preference and not playerbase popularity. At the very moment Zed's winrate sinks under 50%, he gets a buff and Riot says that "he is struggling at the moment, he needs a little bit of love and adjustment". Where are the buffs and gameplay adjustments for Jayce Kennen Viktor Nautilus Kassadin Karma Ivern Gragas Akali Lissandra Gnar ? I could have also listed Kalista Galio Ryze Azir champions but a few days ago Riot talked about their balance policy in which they let us know that their balance is based around high-ELO plays and not regular plays. I can accept this, therefore I don't want to mention them. But all the other champions I listed before have got less than 48% winrate and most of them have been in the bottom of champion.gg's "overall performance" list for at least half a year now. This being said, Zed has been sitting on the top of this list for months. I want you to see that I'm not saying he is overpowered, I just want to say that there are champions in desperate need of balance changes who need Riot's love more than Zed has ever needed it in the past months. This points out the fact that for Riot, Zed's slightest weakness is more important to balance out than (almost) any other champion's balance. This doesn't mean that Zed is their favorite but you can accept the fact that Riot prefers him over a relatively large pool of champions.

Thirdly, Zed is a little bit similar to Yasuo and Katarina. They are all considered overpowered in lower divisions because of their ability to all-in anytime they want. They are sort of "playmakers" in which their zoning comes from their overall presence and not from a particuluar ability (for example Orianna's Q or Lux's E). This is why all three of them can be played awfully because many players who don't know them well enough use their all-ins badly and at bad times. This doesn't mean they need lots of skill to know HOW to use the champion but lots of knowledge to know WHEN to use them. If you are playing Zed and you ult a Fiora with her W ready and Lulu standing next to her, then you don't have the necessary knowledge to play Zed efficiently. On the other hand, if you know when and how to use him, you stand out from the list of other champions. The same is true to Yasuo and Katarina and some other champions I haven't mentioned (and don't want to mention either). The other end of this scale is Warwick who has been performing very well lately thanks to his easy-to-learn kit which is not complicated at all.

Lastly, I want to talk a little bit about Zed's kit and mechanism. The most ridiculous numbers on him are his CDs, his passive's extra damage and his ultimate's %-dmg. His passive is literally a fifth ability whereas Lissandra's passive is literally nothing at all compared to Zed who doesn't even have mana. It is not healthy at all to give Zed such low cooldowns on almost every single ability. It doesn't punish his misplays and doesn't reward his opponent playing out him. If, for example, you play with Kennen and Zed ults you, you can ult him and E away. He misses his Q but hits his W-E on you so with the last tick, he deals 50% of your health and he lost 20% of his health so you can stay on your lane a little bit longer. You did great, he did bad. However, it doesn't punish Zed at all. All he needs to do is to wait 15 seconds at most until he can all-in on you again (without his R, of course), which means you either die or leave your lane. I know that Zed has counterpicks but who doesn't? This doesn't mean he is "average". And many players claim that all you have to do against Zed is to pick Zhonya. This is not a good argument because no champion should be countered only by an item and Zhonya doesn't mitigate his other abilities' damage. You can't just Zhonya every 3 seconds when he throws his shrukines at you.

Once more, I don't want to insult either Zed or his players and I don't want to claim either that he is overpowered. I just want others to see that he gets slightly more love than anyone else in this game. Period.

There's not enough space for me to respond to every single part of this comment, as I just hit the character limit. So I'll just sum up my responses to each paragraph.

  1. Gameplay plays a much larger role than you think in skins. The more buffed a champion gets, the more popular they get, and the most popular of champions become cash cows for Riot to exploit for skins. Vayne, Zoe, Ezreal (remember, Jungle Ezreal), Twitch, Kog'Maw, etc. Obviously this isn't always a constant, as neither Camille nor Kayn have gotten skins (they're fairly strong and somewhat popular) yet. If Zed was REALLY getting more love, I imagine he'd be getting more than just a third Legacy skin. Those four you've listed have a lot of skins, but it's not about quantity, but frequency. The last Ryze skin was...? The last Teemo skin? Blitz just got Lancer, and before that? Meanwhile Ahri and Lux and Miss Fortune? You see my point here? The more popular and loved they are, the more skins they get. This is literally a fact. It's not wrong, per se. Riot's a business. They need to make money. But that doesn't change the fact that Zed clearly isn't getting more attention than others.

  2. Jayce, Nautilus, Kassadin, Karma, and Galio don't NEED buffs. The rest of them do need adjustments, and Akali is lined up for a VGU within the coming months anyways, so I don't see your logic in putting her here. The reason Zed is getting "more love" right now is because they've just changed Duskblade. It's not just Zed. I don't see anyone bitching about Talon or Kayn. It literally has nothing to do with him getting "more love", but rather that everyone hates him to the point that they just see his name in the patch notes and completely ignore the background behind the changes.

  3. They're OP in low elo because people are too retarded to play against them. That's literally all there is to it. Zed takes zero skill in low elo, because people literally don't even have brains down here. There's a reason Zed, Yasuo, Kat, etc. Smurfs absolutely crush low elo. It's not JUST because they're smurfs, but also because they actually play the damn champions correctly. A bad Zed can fuck up Bronze and Silver. A decent Zed can fuck up Bronze and Silver. A good Zed will fuck up everything lower than Plat. None of those champions have ANY presence until levels 5+. Because that's how they're meant to be. You can bully them early game, but once they actually get their ultimates and some damage, you best watch your ass.

  4. His cooldowns are low because he's an assassin. He uses energy because he's an assassin. All assassins either have resets or low cooldowns. A handful of assassins use mana. Ahri, Kha'Zix, Talon, Fizz, Ekko, Leblanc, Kassadin, Shadow Kayn, Nocturne, and Shaco. The rest of them use energy or no resource. Akali, Kat, Kennen, Rengar, Riven, Yasuo, and Zed. They all have low cooldowns. Most of the Mana Assassins are AP. Less than half of the Non-Mana Assassins are AD. Akali and Shaco are hybrid. Your example is pretty faulty. If Zed does R+WE+Q, and misses his Q, he CANNOT deal 50% of your health unless he's already ahead. All of his damage comes from his Q. He'd at least deal 20-35% of your health, excluding Ignite and Electrocute. At that point, he can all-in you, but he won't kill you if you have Flash. Nobody says ONLY Zhonya's will help. Exhaust, Heal, Barrier, even Ghost if you play your cards right will all do wonders. Take Resolve. Build mana and CDR to push the waves faster. You won't NEED Zhonya's until he gets some damage. Until then, you have Stopwatch. Nobody uses Zhonya's for his Qs. His Qs don't deal that much damage alone. He'd have to hit both shurikens. If you're good at dodging skillshots, ggez. If not... Oh well. What a shame.

The dude literally gets ignored for almost an entire season, and then he gets attention for a few patches due to Duskblade changes and suddenly everyone is throwing their shit at Riot complaining that he gets more love than other champions. OMEGALUL.

Why does it feel like every single champ who is AD and has a huge fan base keeps receiving "compensation buffs", while AP champs didn't get anything with the removal of DFG (Ahri Leblanc for instance, and Lissandra Diana AurelionSol Fiddlesticks who have been completely forgotten)
