Does Irelia still need a 2 second stun?

Talamare··5 votes·1,326 views

Irelia's stun comes from a long long time ago, when every had long duration stuns. Multiple champions had 3 second seconds, plenty had over 2 seconds AoE stuns...

These days nearly no one has 2 seconds stuns, hell most champions don't even have 1.5 second stuns anymore!

Does Irelia still really needs a 2 second stun?

answer to ops question is no she doesnt need that stun

but riot wont nerf it since they want to rework her into something that makes more sence (she has 4 floating blades that serve no other purpose than a surfboard for her emote)

She's popular at the moment because she performs well against ranged squishy top laners, which are current meta picks in top lane.

Wait until Maokai and Nasus reclaim their rightful throne in top lane and she won't see as much play. Wither nullifies a lot of her damage and Maokai can easily interrupt her autoattacks during her W's uptime with his Q and W, plus both of them are very tanky and have sustain which rivals hers.

Nasus, yes.

Maokai, not so much. His W is just a snare, meaning that Irelia can still attack him. Her true damage cuts through his ultimate and both their sustains are pretty much equal. In the end, it might just become a farm lane, which benefits both of them...

His W is a snare, but it also make him untargettable. You just have to time it to active when Irelia is mid AA-animation and it will waste one of her autoattacks. Then you can just Q her and walk away, wasting a large portion of her W uptime. While Irelia's true damage might go through his ultimate, the majority of her damage is physical (Q, R. Sheen Proc) and is reduced.

I'm not going to say they are perfect counters, but they've worked very well for me in the past.

Better nerf Irelia some more? LOL... No, she doesn't necessarily need it, but it only has that effect if the target has more health, else it just slows, and no one plays her anymore anyway so it doesn't do any harm.

I think everyone understands how Irelia's stun works, but just saying

Irelia has a stable ~10% play rate and 33% ban rate

That is hardly "no one plays her anymore"

Her stun will stun you if you're at equal health or she took one damage from minions.

Her stun is conditional, not guaranteed. I'm not sure she needs a nerf either. She's only at a 50% win rate because other nerfs and the meta are making her a bit more favorable as well as the sheep ban mentality. Of all the top laners, I wouldn't waste a ban on her unless I'm playing a champ that she counters pretty well. I'm not sure there's any top laner worth a ban ATM unless you don't want a hard counter picked.

Gnar, maybe?

Good question.

Possibly not. Or, maybe, they could change the duration to scale up to the max value, based on the actual difference in HP between Irelia and her target?

oh you dont want that every time irelia loses an all in early she will just stun you for ages resulting in her never losing the lane just stalling it (unless its a gunk)

ProfDrDeath1 votes

?

Let's say Equilibrium Strike was applying a 2 second slow in general. On top of that, if Irelia has lower %-HP than the target, it stuns for 0.5 to 1 second, depending on skill rank. The duration of this stun is extended if the target has way higher HP than Irelia, maxing out at double the base value at 50% difference in HP (= when Irelia has half the %-amount of the target).

seems too useless early

the way i see this it either makes her zed class toxic or urgot class crapp

Just a reminder that malz still has a Technical 3 second stun ult (Technically its a Root and silence, which is basically a stun, but i guess it cant count as a stun)

It has been reduced to 2.5 seconds It can be interrupted to make it end sooner It is an ultimate It self stuns for the same duration

The only 3 second stun remaining is Ashe max range ultimate

her stun is dependant on her being lower health than you so .....yeah ...she does need it since she is basically a AA champ with no escape method whatsoever

irelia is fine. i can win lane against her as riven so she passes my test =P

Yes, I just wish her damage was more consistent instead of her current physical, magic, true damage thing. This would be fine but she also has high base stats, is immune to CC, and has two ways to heal.
