She's similar, but not quite to an AP Talon. She has the shield primarily because her ultimate takes her into melee range, and she needs to survive. Unlike Talon, she can't go invisible (convenient that you forgot about that). Unlike Talon, her E doesn't increase or do damage, it synergizes with her W and passive by bringing opponents into melee range instead of blinking her like her ult and Talon's E does.

She needs the shield because unlike Talon who has a variety of tools to work with, she only has a .5 second pull and 2 seconds of slow. Besides, she isn't even an Assassin. She's a fighter mage who just dishes out damage like one.

Most fighters have assassin-level frontloaded burst. Diana does that to an extreme extent but uniquely... not really.

. Her main source of damage in team fights is her 3rd auto proc.. just like . So if you take away her shield then she needs a buff in her magic resit and armor so she doesn't get insta gibbed.

Talon has a huge movement speed buff on his ulti + invisibility, a aoe slow that does tons of dmg on his w and a gap closer on his e. Diana has what? A small 2 second slow on her e for targets that are in her aa range that does no damage and her ultimate that is her only means of closing a gap?
