They changed homeguard back to an enchantment

Why? I finaly could pick something else than homeguard every game.

For the people that didn't notice it. On the PBE after the 20 minute timer everyone automaticly had homeguards.

Riot probably didn't think is was such a good idea, unless people bought into the item. (even when it creates more options.) Or perhaps Riot decided that the alternative options had more problems than making Homeguard mandatory. (And Honestly, I don't believe it should be mandatory, either way) Not to mention it would completely gut strategies (that mostly Hercarim Uses) that would rely on buying the enchantment pre 20.

I just think they should jack up the price. It's currently cheaper than the captains enchantment. Which was nerfed when they released (I think it was the elixir of ruin, which is now being removed) And Riot still thinks that it should cost more than allowing players to speed out of their base like a torpedo.

they decided they would remove homeguard in 5.23 instead of 5.22, that's if they decide to stick with this change

I really hope not, I'm really hope they would provide some kind of speedboost while you come out the base or something. Maybe not as hugh as homeguard but add least something. Don't forget they also will increase the deadtimer so basicly is someone dies midgame you are basicly 80 seconds out of the fight. 70 for the deadtimer & 10 seconds to walk to it. This can become pretty boring.

Did they actually say they are changing it back to an enchantment or did they just remove it for one cycle?

It could be for any number of reasons. Perhaps they didn't like how it turned out, or perhaps they wanted to test something else and didn't want the new homeguards to effect the data.

In any case it's the PBE, so not all changes will make it to live, including changes that remove things that were also added on the PBE.
