"Akali is OP"
I've done this before for Kat and Riven when people were claiming they were too weak, so lets get to tackling this one.

This is Akali's stats (or at least, how they were before preseason dropped) in Master tier. As we all know, Akali is a champ that's very difficult to truly master, and rewards players that learn the game and the champion. As such, as you climb in elo, Akali's average performance improves in correlation to the rest of the roster.
However, this is Master tier. This is already damn near the end of the road. So if Akali's "overpowered", and her general stats show a roughly 50% win rate in the highest tiers of the game, how did she hold up everywhere else?

Am I pulling this data to up and say "Akali needs buffs" or some shit? No. What I am saying is that the boards, like I've stated before, let perception alter reality way too much. In MY elo, Akali is (or rather, was...cause everything's shaken up) a possible threat at best. In lower elos, especially Gold and under, which is where most of you guys are, Akali should be the freest elo you've ever seen. For a bunch of people that complain when Riot doesn't balance the game around you guys and your skill level, the fact that this propaganda against this champion still persists is mind-boggling. Like, take a quick comparison

I'm not seeing any threads talking about how freelo Sion is outside of people disliking inting Sion (which you should because that shit's straight griefing). I'm not seeing people talking about Janna creeping back up in power again for the xth time. Sure, Taliyah was nerfed, but she's been strong as hell all year through the jg and no one was banning her in 80% of games when she was a much stronger solo queue pick than Akali's ever been since the rework dropped.
I tried to make a thread on the topic before, but it never got the ok on the Gameplay+ boards (Not gonna make a long dissertation just to get downvote bombed by shallow thinkers). Main point is that you guys put too much focus on immediate interactions and not enough focus on the big picture. Akali's issue has never been how "powerful she was" or "having counter-play or not". You guys simply don't like her denying you the ability to hit her mid-combat through shroud and life stealing off minions while stacking every defensive pre-game option possible so she wouldn't flounder and die in the laning phase, more so than you dislike being blown up by LeBlanc/Rengar in .3 seconds, more so than you dislike being ran over by actual top tier solo queue picks, and more so than you're ever going to willingly admit. It's never been about balance. It's been about your feelings.
Edit: Bonus because I remembered how much Shaco players keep bitching about their champion being weak
