Mastery Tokens

If I don't have enough essence to upgrade to Mastery 6 but have the tokens and get another S, will I:

  1. Get another mastery 6 token since I'm not yet "mastery 6" due to essence.
  2. Get a mastery 7 token since I've obtained the tokens for 6.
  3. Get nothing since you can't get more than 2 tokens at 6 and not yet at 6 to get 7.
