Dev Blog: Classes & Subclasses

Riot recently release a dev blog on how champions will be characterised into certain classes and sub-classes in the future, and roughly described what traits define each category.

The plan is for them to eventually release a list of all champion categorised in this way.

However, with the classes descriptions being up, what do you think about that we as a community try to label each champion before the official list is released? Then we can compare whether our views of where a champion stands are concurrent with how the official stance on them is.

EDIT: Meddler even thinks making our own list is a good idea, for them to compare to:

While you guys work on an official list,I'm sure a few players out there will sort all the champs by subclasses based on the guidelines that were presented here.

I hope so!

Really looking forward to seeing how people interpret the roster and how closely that does or doesn't match our own conclusions.

This guy also made a list, where each champion stands in his opinion. It's good, even if it lacks reasonings.

I'll start with a few favorites of mine. Feel free to disagree and discuss:

Irelia : Main: Fighter - Diver Elements of: Slayer - Skirmisher (True damage W, E stun as a situational defense tool)

Quinn : Main: Marks(wo)man Elements of: Slayer - Assassin (High burst damage, effective at fast flanking/access to priority targets) Unique - High uptime strategical mobility

Anivia : Main: Controller - Disruptor Elements of: Mage - Burst (QE / ER combos hitting like a truck, Locking down people with Q and W and then boom) Mage - Battle (Deals a lot of sustained damage with Glacial Storm if allowed to stay close, Eggnivia)

Chogath : Main: Fighter - Juggernaut (Cho deals and takes significant punishment, but is highly immobile and fairly low-ranged save the unreliable Rupture) Elements of: Controller - Disruptor (Potent disruptive CC between Feral Scream and Rupture) Mage - Burst (courtesy of high bases and high AP ratios, Feast can be a good nuke even without much extra AP)

Katarina : Main: Unique - Highly mobile PBAoE damage dealer, snowballing fights on kills Elements of: Slayer - Assassin (resetting mobility, access to priority targets, but less concentrated burst than true assassins) Mage - Battle (getting kills gives her "sustained" damage to be able to kill even tankier targets - 1 or 2 Kata rotations might not kill a tank, but 3-4?)

How would you classify your favorite champion?

If Draven's official class isn't going to be "Draven" I'm going to be sorely disappointed.

:D

Draven Main: Unique - Draven Elements of: Marksman (obviously) Slayer - Skirmisher (His sustained damage melts anything close if allowed to juggle axes)

Gangplank appears to resemble a Skirmisher. That happens to suck at skirmishes if he has no barrels. And he isn't the best at demolishing tanks. But he also bursts super hard. What is he again?

Main: Slayer - Skirmisher

That is actually fairly obvious. Situationally powerful defense - Oranges, check. Barrels are good against squishies, with their raw damage, as well as tanks (Armor Penetration). No guaranteed backline access

Elements of: Mage - Burst (locking down with ult, then bursting)
