New Vel'Koz Opinions and Questions
Hey everyone.
I'm a Vel'Koz main and after the rework and changes I've had a lot of time to play him. I'm not quite sure how I feel about him now as compared to before. One thing I've noticed is that I've gotten on a pretty set build path that looks like this:

The Zhonyas might be built as my second major item (not counting boots) instead of Morello's if I'm against Zed or I really need it.
I can't think of what else I should get on him. The only other option I considered was
into
, but not sure if that'd be better or not, especially since I'd have to get tear + rod, and it would take a while to stack up. Or maybe I could just replace rod with tear altogether ... is that better?
I don't get
on him because ... well ... he's a long ranged mage, so the passive wouldn't be as useful as on other champs. People do occasionally get up close and personal with me to try and kill me, but I usually quickly create distance between myself and them through kiting or having peel. I don't see too much use in
, since you already have a potent slow on Q and a slow on ult. Maybe I could sub out Zhonyas for another item, but not really sure which. He deals so much true damage now that things like
and
don't seem as good as the sheer amount of AP from Luden's or Rabadon's.
Besides item building, thoughts on his balance/health as compared to pre-rework?
Void staff is optional, but ofc get it if you need it late game and they stack MR heavy.
Zhonyas/Abysal are optional depending on match ups.
