Yes, electrocute was overpowered but I think in there's way too much stigma against assasins.
There are tons of items that make mages tankier and harder to kill.

And that's not even touching on how many of them can build tabis or mercs and not sacrifice anything for it. Mages would sacrifice mag pen and ADCs loose AS. Assassins? Nothing.

You dont lose any AD, what do you mean. All of those items have AD on them. And BC and deaths dance and maw have CDR. But sure, they give up tons for building slightly tankier. With a build like 
or , they dont get 245 bonus AD, 18 to 36 lethality, 20% armor shred, 400 health, 50% CDR(you actually break the cap), 75 bonus MR or 65 bonus armor depending on their boot choice. This isn't even touching on all of the neat passives and shit on these items that give them more utility than they need.
Pika Fox1 votesIf you build hexdrinker, youre giving up completing a full item early. Hexdrinker has less damage than any comparable alternatives to it. Similarly, the damage of maw vs a damage item like Duskblade, Youmuus, or even BC is far lower. Likewise, Duskblade gives extra up front damage at the cost of CDR, HP and AR shred that BC provides or movespeed youmuus provides.
GA gives up a lot of AD for the passive.

HéntaiSénpai3 votesSo you say assassin's get to much shit but say with Zed, you build Duskblade, Ghostblade, LDR, EoN and Sudden Impact, you bring a squshies BASE armor (without GA) to approximately (give or take per champion base stats) -12 which means you're doing more damage that what your ability states at level 18.
As with mages (without the ability to use sudden Impact) with Morello's, and Sorc shoes, and void staff, Zed's base MR goes down to only 2.
And mages with sudden Impact proc, well, guess what they're assassin's pretty much. Dropping MR to approx -8, I'm talking Diana, LB, Zoe (she's a burst mage who plays like an assassin), Akali, Ekko, Fizz, Kassadin, etc.
So yes, assassin's are BS. And the reason is bc of Sudden Impact. It needs to be like the old mastery and apply it to everyone who takes it. Not just certain champs who have specific abilities.
Not to mention their are items assassin's use to be tanky as well:

deadlychuck2 votesProbably because assassins didn't use to exist in the game and really have no reason to exist. They don't fill any particular role, they just act like a fucking fighter that stacked all damage items. Then just abuse their under valued kit budgets to survive.
Literally the assassin fantasy is just a youtube highlight reel or smurf account, embodied into a class so people can feel like they're on a power trip.

Ultimate Deadpoo1 votesI'd say just remove the damage part of Duskblade, increase it's lethality and damage slightly, and if assassins are too weak after that, buff their damage ratios. As a Rengar main myself, I don't like how reliant assassins are on Duskblade to actually work.

If you want to remove Duskblade and then buff scalings, you need to buff reliable abilities, since Duskblade proc is very reliable. Stuff like Rengar Q, Talon Q, Zed E, Kha Q, Shaco E.
Or we just could revert Assassins update and call it a day, it created more problems than it fixed
