Pessimism

There's a difference between pessimism, and realism, but most people don't really know this, and kinda just say someone who is realistic, is pessimistic. Example, someone who is pessimistic at the start of a match, would say something like, gg we lost they've got so and so on their team etc. etc. Someone who is realistic would say, this is pointless, we're down 22 kills, they've gotten dragon 4 times, and baron twice, we're not winning this. Like, I just really wanted to clarify this, because everyone thinks I'm pessimistic! D: I'm not trying to a negative nancy, but if we're losing really badly, I'm gonna straight up and say it, "Hey, we're losing. Badly might I add, we're not going to win this." Afterwards, I start a surrender vote. If we don't surrender, I'm okay with it, I'm not gonna intentionally feed, not gonna AFK, I'm gonna try to help our team win. After a certain point, it gets ridiculous, and I get annoyed. I think everyone is too optimistic in this game. It's nice to turn things around, but there's a point where people can't turn games around. Veigar with over 1000 AP and 32/5/15? No no, you're done, let's move on XD

The example you cited isn't a case you can't come back from. In general, at low Elo, the game is going to be decided by which team has more feeders. If the team the Veigar is going against is making up for their deaths with the rest of the team, at level 18 they'll easily win.

But as for the post's topic, in general just pointing out that you're going to lose is pessimistic. The team gains nothing from such statement, and it usually just angers or lowers morale. For that reason, a realist wouldn't say anything.

well, I find that people are sometimes too oblivious to the fact that they probably arent going to win against 26/0/19 akali and 19/0/26 master yi

I'm guessing the realist would shut up and browse youtube so they dont have to go through the painful last 5 minutes of the game?

It's usually under those circumstances I say that we're going to lose. Feeders or no, you can always (at least try) to recover a game. After the first time I saw we'll lose, I don't say it again unless my team starts to blame me for losing, when it's usually not my fault.

I think you're wrong, dear sir. I think that a pessimist would keep pointing out that we're going to lose, just for the sake of saying it. While a realist would say it, as to make it known, that if something isn't changed that the team will lose. Just my opinion. No salt/malice/ etc.

I don't think it's people being optimistic, more stubbornness.
It doesn't matter how good you think you are. If you can't help your team to win a team fight or set up a winning strategy, then your k/d/a doesn't mean jack.

Another thing I point out to people, yet they just yell at me in chat, telling me that we're losing and it's all my fault.
