@Meddler: What kinds of things did you experiment with for reworking Ashe?

Since Ashe is getting her Q and passive redone, I'm curious as to what you guys tried in development and testing.

Short version: We looked at a number of different ways for crit to affect Ashe's play (in particular, should crits do the same thing on all champs) and for her to slow targets via her basic attacks.

The longer version I'll leave to Repertoir who'd I'd imagine will talk about the changes in detail once they're close to release (he's the designer who's been working on Ashe, amongst other things).

To me this is interesting. I feel Ashe has two distinct aspects to her identity the "precise" archer (aka crit and landing her stun), and the utility adc, which goes with her vision control, passive gold generation and her slows, which she sacrifices damage for. Will the latter be nixed in favor of focusing more on the former? I'd be very sad to see enchanted crystal arrow get changed, as that's one part of ashe's kit that has always been very dear to me. I would, however, like to see some of her power shifted away from her e and into her other abilities (or for that to be reworked entirely).

Odds are extremely high we'll leave the ult as is (or slightly tweaked). Also pretty likely the gold generation passive will be removed in order to add more interactive power somewhere.

About time. That gold generation was never that useful to begin with, and doesn't make any sense to her kit or story. Where in her story does she have some sort of "Midas Touch"?

For Draven, it makes sense: he puts on such a show that people throw him their gold.

Well its bound to Hawkshot so I imagine its that the hawk brings her more gold from the kills.

It certainly makes more sense than 'I killed something so its money flies to me'

Draven's passive made more sense before the great retcon

more interactive power

Omg, it's like my opinion was actually heard!

like maybe increasing her base/scaling ad so that she can last hit easier? Her ad is pretty low if I remember correctly.

Also, what if when ashe lands a crit, the slow applied is also doubled?

Have you ever considered rescaling her ult's stun? I can't count the number of times I've tried to use it to self-peel and found it to be basically useless for that function.

what do you mean by "interactive power" ?

Venowolf1 votes

Wow that are good changes, that passive gold is just meh, I have curiosity on her ult now have some AD ratio or have the damage increase in base of the traveling time of the arrow?

Linna Excel1 votes

Let Q being on buff her crit chance or make her passive a bonus crit chance against CCed targets.

Fixed.

you need to be more specific, what you just said is quite confusing and vague

May I ask, why wait until close to release? Is it to avoid blow back vs unpopular changes (ie Cass/Veigar)?

So, will her crits/critchance affect her ability to slow targets?

The two things I thought would work for Ashe would be some sort of enhanced Q effect on critical strikes (enhanced slow, bonus magical damage, sight of the champion if you wanted to tie this passive to E) and some way to charge her passive without specifically having to wait 3 seconds, perhaps at the cost of slower charging. I was thinking movement should charge it, and waiting 3 seconds should charge it faster.

I hope her ult stays as it is, it's my favorite skill of hers. Ashe is my most successful ADC because people underestimate the power of that ult.

Sirsir1 votes

I don't think people underestimate it, I think people miss it.

Ace Access 1 votes

well aiming it over long distance against moving targets is hard so the stun duration makes it epic when you get a hit

Ashe is a champ that doesn't easily forgive mistakes

I mostly play Ashe as ADC and i know, her Q is kinda anti-fun if the victim has no way to get away from ash's range attack or to stun her, slow her down while they are slowed just to eventually get out of range.

Udyr is so useless when ash is in.

Ace Access 1 votes

well those slows mean get close to Ashe and you'll have a hard time escaping her teammates

her specialty is making sure enemies have a hard time running away to safety and to give free visions and stun

also I played with an udyr once and he enjoyed chasing down my slowed targets :D
