As a Shen player this is one of the most aggravating things Riot has done. He was good after his rework, and they nerfed his early game. I expected that, because Shen has always been a late game champion. So before 7.8 Shen lost every lane because he was suppose to, my goal was to survive, maintain farm and get meaning ults off. 6.18 - Passive became worthless till you get 3 items, and Q damage nerf. 6.5 - nerfed his hp5. Then 7.8 happens (check out notes). Q damage to minions down = can't last hit under tower or even maintain farm against the weaker laners. Q damage to champions up = doesn't matter because Shen couldn't effectively duel until lvl 9 anyway. E width up = WTF is this, can't even notice. R cooldown up = less ults on top of less cs. R shield nerfed across the board = your not saving anyone even if you do ult.

So in summary SHEN has been changed so he can't do his job: TANK, SAVE, Splitpush

Everyone is going to say don't play SHEN in Solo queue he's only good in competitive. Well I'm glad Riot is making Competitive only champions, because solo queue is only for one playstyle - do tons of damage with insane mobility.

This nerf gut a champion that many of us love, despite the fact he has been weaker in everything, but LCS.

RIOT WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK ARE YOU DOING??? Do you not care about Shen in SoloQ at all??? If you simply nerf Shen due to his success in the LCS than you should nerf Gangplank as well due to his success by Tobias Fate. Shen: Lose lane, Lose farm, Lose Tower FB, MAYBE save adc (not anymore) GG rito time to refund should've just deleted him from the game while you're at it.

Coming from another Shen player these changes didn't destroy him. His early dueling power is now insane with the amount of damage you get from empowered auto's, and your ult shields for more if your target is at 40% HP at the first 2 levels of your ult.

Was Shen nerfed? Yes.

Was he also buffed? Yes.

Well hear me out: check my records before judging I am a Shen player too and used Shen in Diamond a lot lately: I realize the biggest bumper im facing right now: Q does not enough to slay range minions under tower now!! This is the conclusion after playing two Shen games today; my rune selection is locked down. if I do not pick full AD (Mard+Quint) Runes (I used to run atk spd or hp reg on Quints) I will miss shit loads of minions which I would not on Shen b4 nerf. RIOT, HEAR ME OUT: CONSIDER THAT THIS CHAMPION CAN ONLY GET CS FROM AUTO, PLEASE THINK ABOUT NERFING SUNFIRE item 3751 OR TIAMAT ( item 3077 if you really want more people to quit), NOT THIS PARTICULAR CHAMPION. IF SHEN GET THESE ITEMS THE CS IS STILL FINE, BUT EXCUSE ME?? OHTER TOP LANERS WILL DO THE SAME TOO WITH SUNFIRE OR TIAMAT!

Shen got gutted into unplayability, the only thing that can save him at this point would be another rework.

You last hit with AA's like a normal champion? It isn't hard. I'd imagine that increased damage makes it so you have earlier duel potential. Also, the width increase is supposed to be a buff to Shen that Shen mains have been waiting for, since it makes the ability more impactful and reliable. At least, that's what I've garnered from it. With that in mind, your base stats are the same, so you can still tank, you deal more damage, so you can split-push better, and your ult is more impactful when used on low-health allies, so you can still save them.

During the last few months I tried hard to get the attention of RIOT on Shen. Here is my last attempt. As always I was expecting nothing but now I have to deal with this unmotivated nerf. Shen sucked and now he sucks even more.

He's the worst support, jungler and one of the worst top laners (41° on 57). In lane he's non-existent, easy to zone, poke and bully. He has no kill potential in 1v1 scenario until level 9. His «game-changing ultimate» doesn't really change anything and now it has been nerfed even more with stupid longer cool downs and a new risky mechanic like if the life of Shen wasn't risky already.

Shen, the only champion with 4 spells with the following qualities:

Q scales with AP. Shen can't buy AP. No scalings, zero
W 18 seconds of cool down, useless against spell-reliant champions and only saves you from 2 autos
E 16 seconds of cool down. Decent. Not impressive. Just decent
R scales with AP. Shen can't buy AP. No scalings, zero

Cool items for Shen too bad that they give you tons of useless mana therefore you can't really buy it because you waste too much gold. He needs so many stats (AS, MS, AR, MR, HP, CDR) but the items you can buy are very limited here is why almost every single Shen will always buy the same exact items.

His Q, the only source of damage, is the most predicable spell and requires that you opponent is a stupid idiot to be effective. Its mechanics are clunky. As if it wasn't enough there's also an arrow that the enemy can see to understand where the blade is. Really? Then I want the same arrow on the real Shaco, LB and on all soldiers of Azir. For all the rest he simply sucks. In top lane matchups are always a nightmare. There are tens of champions that are better than him. Maybe this is the reason why he's constantly the champion with the lowest pick rate, win rate and ban rate.

Too bad RIOT only cares about competitive play with pros. They're all premade and Shen works very well when you are playing with a team. Sadly in soloQ he simply sucks because you always play with 4 random and unknow guys and most of times they don't really understand what are you intention. Now we have this nerf because of the damned pros and for me, after reaching 1.600.000 mastery points on Shen and Diamond just spamming him support, there is no reason to stay in this stupid game. WP RIOT, you made me quit. If only I could trade my experience and achievements on Shen with something else... w/e I didn't manage to get a SINGLE ANSWER from riot in 2 years about Shen and now they nerf him. You can't imagine how negative is my opinion about RIOT now.

Ultimately what it feels like is they made his EASY lanes EASIER, and his HARD lanes IMPOSSIBLE. Biggest problem with that is you can count the number of easy lanes Shen has on 1 hand. Plus in solo queue how many Malphites , Sions Sion , Mundos DrMundo do you see?? because that all of em basically. With Solo Queue full of Jayce Jayce , Fiora Fiora , Darius Darius , Jax Jax , Teemo Teemo , Riven Riven , Yasuo Yasuo ; Shen is flat out screwed. His ability to last hit under tower was all he had to almost stay relevant enough to R. Now he cant walk up to cs, with all the previous nerfs over the past year to passive and bases, He can't farm under tower, falls behind in cs and levels before hitting 6 to the point his ult is worthless, and he becomes less than a minion.
