Can I get a Rioter to please explain how healing works from ults like Trundle

There was a pretty big debate (that I started, whoops) about this enormous heal that Trundle got in one of the pro matches. Here it is right here.

There are so many different ways people are trying to evaluate this situation, but nothing seems to be making sense. So, can I please get a Rioter to explain how Trundle's ult heal works (same as Morde's ult I guess)?

Some people are saying that Trundle's ult heals for the pre-mitigation damage (before Magic Resist), some are saying it doesnt. The ult says it heals for the damage dealt, which would mean the damage dealt after applying magic resist. However, people are saying that the only way to get to that +Heal from Trundle would be a pre-mitigation heal.

Wasn't sure about the answer off the top of the head so went and looked this up. Trundle ult does indeed calculate its heal based off the target's health without taking mitigation into account. I'd imagine that was done deliberately during his development or rework to ensure that what seems like the correct play (ult the person with lots of health and mitigation to steal) is appropriately rewarding.

Morde ult by contrast does base its healing off post mitigation damage actually dealt. Given Morde's tendency to buy MPEN and the most desirable ghosts often being squishy targets that makes sense too with how the ult should be used.

Looks like the behavior in that video linked is working as intended. There's a bit of variation in the healing ticks as the ult runs, that'll be the floating combat text amalgamating other sources of healing (HP5, nearby minion deaths etc) into the same display number though (done to reduce visual overload). Would be good to find a concise way of helping the reader expect pre-mitigation healing from Trundle's ult tooltip, wouldn't want to do so without a clean, simple way of doing so though (initial comprehension of ability functionality being more important than that level of nuance).

ACTIVE: Trundle drains the life force out of the target enemy champion, instantly dealing magic damage, healing for the damage done and stealing 20% of their armor and magic resistance. He then applies the same effects to the target again over the next 4 seconds.

INITIAL MAGIC DAMAGE: 10 / 13.75 / 17.5% (+ 1% per 100 AP) of the target's maximum health 「 TOTAL MAGIC DAMAGE: 20 / 27.5 / 35% (+ 2% per 100 AP) of the target's maximum health 」

Also his passive does not proc on turrets.

So one thing is that Irelia had x amount of magic resist. Once Trundle R, he only dealt damage with that mr, THEN he steals right after the heal, her armor and mr.

You also have his Frozen Domain, you can read the 1st comment to the reddit post.

My opinion is to nerf the hell out of it or preferably, Morderkaiser him.

not to mention he's standing on frozen domain, has spirit visage, and is probably running Runic armor, which means that heal was amplified by like 50%.

Why is it premitigation? That's so dumb. He already steals resists from the target and on top of that he gets a heal. He just turns into a mega resist tank and a drain tank at the same time.

?????????????

Mordes ult is garbo either way, its passive is the only thing good
