The New Hud and How To Fix It

Now, I know we can all agree there's something we all dislike about the new HUD, like it or hate it. But I don't think we should get rid of it completely. Before you hit that downvote button, here me out.

#The Good I think it'd be best to point out whats good about this HUD update, so here it goes: ##Information when we need it, where we need it: With the new update, I don't need to press C to have a window come up and cover my screen just so I can check my CD% or lifesteal. The box is right there, so I can just glance down and check it without having to be in a safe spot first so the window can come up. ##I can see! There's a lot more room for us to see, and that means less of a chance of missing someone at the corner of your screen. ##Dude, lets compair I have to say this is one of the best additions to the new update. Allowing us to organize the people in the Tab menu lets us compare easier. It might be a small change, but it's a really good one still, especially having them be side-by-side. ##Timing is everything The new timers for your teams ults is such a fantastic addition. It makes it much easier to know when to go in and knowing when to gank and help teammates.

#The Bad Here we go. ######What does that say? A lot of things in the new HUD are way way too small. Not everyone has 20/20 vision, or large monitors. A lot of times, I'm sure people are going to have to squint just to see how much AP they have. I mean, what is this? A game for ants? ##Get in position! Oh boy. I cannot stress this enough. The positioning of a lot of stuff changed, and it's kind of a killer. it seems like to save space you shoved everything into one area, clumping it into one pile of everything. It hurts to look at, and can sometimes be distracting. ##The ugly Honestly. I'm sorry that I'm insulting someone's art, but the design of the new HUD is just awful to what League should feel like. I get you guys wanted to go for more of a simplistic look, but that should stay in the boards. In game, the old design was fine, and a retuned version would've been great. The HUD shouldn't be this dark aqua color. It needs to be stone, giving off a powerful, magical aura, that great summoners and magicians used over thousands of years.

#What we can do The most obvious things are to reposition most things to where they were at before. Give the option to scale things (with more of a variety than you already do). And then redo the design of it to give it a better, non-plain, look. It might be asking for a lot, so I'd say give the option to choose between the two until then.

#What do you think? I'll add more to this and edit it as people put their own idea/complaints/likes to it.

Constructive thread. We need more of those.

I don't think they should reposition everything. I like the idea of having items next to the abilities to see both at once, although I keep looking to the bottom left to search my items/gold, I guess we jsut need to get used to this.

My biggest issue is that everything that's not available currently is completely grey. This makes it hard to see what item/summoner spell/etc. it actually is. I prefer the dulled-out version where they are still colours but just darker. It was obvious what was on CD (because of the big cooldown timer) and what wasn't. But I guess that this will also need some adaptation (once you know the place of everything there'll be less confusion I guess). Still, I think completely greyed out fields are disturbing, especially for items.
