Oh, removing DFG and nerfing Ahri? Ok....

In a previous Riot post about the removal of DFG, they stated that champions like Ahri and Veigar would get some buffs because of the removal of DFG. However, with today's current PBE update, Ahri is in fact getting nerfed instead. They are adding a moving speed buff to her Q but it only lasts for 1 second AND they are removing are 20% amplified damage from her charm... So, she's pretty much awful now. Well played Rito, well played.

Read what Riot said before spam threads please, they're trying to improve her kite mage pattern and move away from the burst one.

If all the buffs she got in her others spells aren't enough I guess they will buff her more.

It's a power shift.

Edit: I want to point this again, if after this power shift she's worse than before they're obviously going to buff her more, the balance team isn't stupid.

No, they said that removing DFG gives them the opportunity to buff her in more interesting ways. Adding a 1 second movement speed boost to her Q and removing a charm damage amplification is by no means a "buff". That is a nerf. She is a mage and a bursty champ for a reason and removing that makes her just a sustain champ like Orianna. She is one of my main champs and I'll most likely still play her, but that's just not good compensation.

This is what they said:

"The second reason is strongly tied to the first; removing this item gives us room to buff champion kits that would otherwise be overpowered if they could use DFG. The most obvious example is Ahri; more 'magey' elements of the character, like her sustained damage or kiting, end up getting washed out because she has so much power to blow up charmed targets with a DFG burst. This ends up forcing us to balance Ahri around her assassin playstyle because there's always the "I can buy DFG" route to consider; removing the item means we can buff her in more interesting ways while still keeping some of her burst because she can't just pick up a DFG and double down on a single playstyle."

They got forced to balance Ahri around her assassin playstyle (when she was supposed to be a mage in a first place) because of the DFG and now that it's gone they can support more her "magey" elements like her sustained damage or kiting like before.

You will still be able to burst people down, because if you hit the charm you're going to land every spell.

All that is fair, but it doesn't mean they need to so thoroughly shift the power. They could easily just reduce the amp and keep the reward to the assassin play style.

Fair enough. I'd be fine with the reduction for the reasons you described.

They NERFED HER a long time ago all of her skills were lower damage thats why the added the 20% to the charm to make her a comboer. But with all these assassins now she isnt very strong so they took away the 20% and BUFFED everything about her. why cant you understand

No it's a nerf, completely. And you just basically said it yourself. She isn't as strong as the other assassins and with the removal of the charm amplification she's even weaker now. Her base damages for Q are not the great and a movement speed buff isn't even relevant these days with how mobile most other champions are. She only has the ability to do minor damage in a fight now and is no longer a bursty mage, at all. She only bursted before because of the charm amp.

Ahri is a kiter, she might have CC and mobility but anyone that can get close to nuke her will win. Zed, Akali, Fizz. She should be played with much more safety, land a charm, use w and q and keep kiting and dodging things. This is why she is a good roamer thats balanced, not like an akali which is point and click. She wasnt meant to be an Assassin the 20% on her charm with DFG made her one, which made her 100% charm reliant which isnt a healthy play style

She was explicitly meant to be a mage/assassin from release onward. That doesn't mean that she can't be a powerful kite-mage, but some support to the assassination play style that Ahri players have expected and enjoyed since release is also important.

You also would think with all their talk of "strategic diversity" they would allow and approve of champions being used in manners that they weren't originally intended. Rather, of late, it seems like Riot is narrowing what roles each champion can do and forcing people into the meta more and more imo.

She wasn't played as 100-0 Assassin until shortly before Season 3 Worlds.

That was the play experience I shot for with her from day 1. It was harder back then, and required the right target to make a mistake, but it happened. But hey, maybe I'm a major exception. What about 80-0? Poke with Q once or twice, or wait until your team engages, and then assassinate your target. That works too.

They shoulda made her less immortal with her ult up, and not weaker than a super minion when she misses E..

why give a champion with three dashes charm and flash more movement speed and nerf her damage and remove her core item ahri def doesn't need more mobility

I cannot understand how you think this is a Nerf. The move speed boost she gets is MASSIVE, they increased the damage on her W, her E now has a far better AP ratio, and does alot more damage when fully ranked.

THE ONLY THING they took away is the 20% damage increase. If you want, I'd love to dive into some math to prove that this is a buff.
