Ideas about Veigar
Veigar has recently been getting some attention with the changes with his Baleful Strike and Event Horizon. It still can be fun to play as the dark wizard, but his reliance on landing his stun to either initiate or to zone seems to significant for his lack of mobility. It can be a lot less fun playing against a Veigar, especially if you are an AP mage, but this has always been the case. I personally believed Veigar's Ultimate and Q animation was not different enough, but with the change to his Q it's easier to tell what he's about to hit you with before the damage is actually applied. (So you could Zhonyas, Sivir spellshield, etc..) Veigar can still do well against AD mid laners, but you definitely don't feel his power as much. With his recent changes I had hoped Riot would have attempted to rework him a little harder. Riot tends to be making more champions that have more utility built in to their kits to create more diverse fights, and unique tactics.
So, what would I like to see happen to Veigar?
Current Passive:
- Currently Veigar's passive is boring. Mana regen is already a passive stat for all champions that use mana.
- Doesn't make you actively think about it to utilize it.
- Isn't fun or interesting to the champion itself.
New Passive: His passive is the only ability that I am still attempting to find a good harmony with the rest of his kit. Still have some ideas though.
- Cosmic Transfusion - Whenever Veigar hits himself with an ability, it gives him stacks or makes his next auto attack do more damage. (This will make more sense with other changes. 2.** Tiny Gravity **- Veigar creates a small gravitational force around him slowly enemies within a short range.
Current Q: Baleful Strike
- Pretty good skill doesn't necessarily need changing.
- Long Range skill shot, that hits 2 enemies.
- Does it go with Veigar's character? In one way it does as a powerful blast of magic from his staff.
Possible New Q: Tiny Comet of Evil
- Shoots out a orb of energy that orbits Veigar for a predetermined length
- Can shoot out the orb at varied distances that would allow for shorter, but more frequent orbits. Or a more elliptical orbit, somewhat resembling Ahri's Orb of deception in terms of its path.
- Veigar could step in the path of the orb, to use passive Cosmic Transfusion.
Current W: Dark Matter
- Long delay between cast and actual damage.
- Small radius, combined with long delay makes hitting E or other hard cc crucial for landing.
- High damage.
New W: Meteor Shower or Dark Matter
- Hold charges (similar to Vel' Koz's W), and could release multiple Meteors simultaneously
- Keep the delay that his currently there, but with multiple casts could also anticipate champion's dodges/ flashes and react to those as well without having to wait for cooldown. 3.Reduce damage for initial hit and each subsequent hit.
Current E: Event Horizon Current is fine with my idea of Veigar. Potentially shorter stun duration.
Current Ultimate: Primordial Burst
- Super high damage against mages. High Damage against everyone else.
- Point and click skill for high reward.
- Don't really have to think how to utilize it.
New Ultimate: Primordial Burst
- Veigar creates a massive orb of dark energy in an area. After a delay the orb explodes dealing massive AoE damage, and possibly slowing.
- Lower damage than current ultimate, but backs up the loss of damage with the ability to hit multiple targets and zoning/utility.
I realize, especially after typing it, these changes would give Veigar a lot more AoE damage potential. I didn't go in to too much detail regarding AP ratio's, cooldowns, and base damage because I just wanted to get the basic concepts across. I believe a lot of these changes would help Veigar help deal with bruisers and tanks that could otherwise stick on him.
