Riot, it's the role selection I have a problem with in ranked

It's not just the premades. I'm not sure what the community thinks, but I had to post this because I've just been so damn pissed.

So I'm a jungle main, and don't really like any other lane much. I queued fill secondary at the start of dynamic queue, but after realising I would get support every time, put my secondary as top. I'm not sure, put pretty sure, top is the 2nd least played role, because 75% of the time queuing jungle primary top secondary I get top. I'm semi-fine with that, since I don't perform terribly at top, but it's still a stupid statistic, and either way that's not what this post is to complain about.

It's the queue times. Everyone says for high elo this is a huge problem, but for low elo it shouldn't matter. I'm here to say it does matter. At least for me, not sure about the community, but this is a problem I've certainly been experiencing. I'm in low elo, damn low in fact, silver 3. With such a huge percent of the community being in silver, you'd think there'd be low queue times. Guess what? Not for me. I often queue with 3, or 4 people, and our roles are often in the mix of jungle, mid, adc and then me who is secondary or rarely primary top, and another person who sometimes queues top. The recommended wait is usually around 2 mins, but I'm not kidding, I've been waiting for 20-30 mins sometimes. It's usually around 15-20 though. Which is absurd. With millions of NA players playing this damn game, it's crazy to think I should wait this long for a game, even though none of us queue support.

I'm not sure who else is experiencing this, but I'm a player who doesn't play ranked much because when I do I spend half the damn time queuing or playing support, which I don't want to do. If you're someone else in low elo who is experiencing these ridiculous queues, tell me, I'd be interested. I don't get why high elo players think it's only them suffering from this dynamic queue, because it's really not. And just as a note, when someone queues support a game takes about 1-2 mins to find.

For those looking for screenshots, I don't have any, simply because when the queue gets to 5-10 minutes, we reset it hoping it will do something in case it's in a glitched deadlock or something, but I can assure you I experience these queue times 90% of the time I queue up for ranked, and am just wondering who else suffers this, out of curiosity, because players like me who queue in premades have the so called advantage in dynamic queue, but I still dislike the experience solely because of these wait times. 20 mins in silver to find a game? Makes me almost want to not climb just because I wonder how awful it must be in high elo with like 2% of the player base.

That is all.

That's part of the new champion select. It's not part of Dynamic Queue, according to Riot.

To put it simply if solo queue ever came back it would be keeping the current champion select.

Personally I'm still waiting for the day I can go Top primary, Support secondary and get Top most of the time. Support is the secondary role that I play, but I don't want to play it more often than my primary.

I'm still waiting for the "fill minus support" and the "no secondary; I'll take a longer wait if it guarantees my primary" options personally.

That first one's not going to happen, because fill means fill, but I'd love the second one to come along sometime.

He makes a valid point, Fill roll will give you support over 80% of the time. The biggest problem with the Role Selection system. As well as support Secondary or Primary you will get support 90% of the time.

The fill option becomes redundant when it becomes synonymous with support however. That said, it wouldn't be necessary to implement a "fill minus X position" option if Riot fixed the support ratios like you've already mentioned.

Updated, thanks.

Dynamic Queue and Role Selection are separate entities. DQ is the actual queue, RS is the new champ select system that gives you your role.

I was under the impression that they went hand in hand. That what you call Role Selection is a component of Dynamic Queue.

Obviously they could be separated if riot chose to implement SoloQ like a large amount of the player base have been screaming about for months. But it was a piece of the system we call Dynamic Queue.

Riot has confirmed that they are two separate things. They were simply added at the same time.
