Talk with your brain, not your rank

Just a reminder that when you play league, that you talk to your team with you're knowledge of the game and not just tell me I'm silver trash and everything I say is irrelevant. I don't care that you're getting a flashy gold or plat border and a victorious skin, it doesn't mean everything you do in the game is the right decision and I need to quit the game.

Rank is pointless. I see my bronze friend win easily against gold/plats sometime. They probably aren't doing there absolute best but neither is he. Rank is hardly a good indicator of how good you are now, when people bring it up it's just silly. I can't take anyone seriously who brings up their rank like it means something. The only discussion people can come up with in game are either insults about your rank or that you suck at this game. It's disgusting.

Ranked is rarely a true show of a person's skill and game knowledge. Yes, if you have 500+ games and you are B5, I think you may not be the most convincing, but it's pretty easy to see the different between a guy with 20 games in silver probably doesn't care about ranked as much compared to a guy with 300 games in plat who clearly cares.

You can be knowledgeable and actually skillful but don't play ranked.

my illustrious gold 5 rank says you are obviously wrong because you must be a boosted bronze 7 [sg-ahri-3]

Sometimes rank is about the only argument that get's you anywhere though.

I recently had a silver guy telling me that the damage passive's from item 3094 and item 3087 stack.

As in you build both items then you get both the on hit damage passive's and they together become this super big hit xD

He kept going on and on about, even when i tried linking a wiki page explaining that they didn't stack he didn't believe me at all.

Only when i shared the OP.GG site showing that i am a bottom feeder plati did he finally stop x)

And that's not the first instance where i´ve had to reinforce my arguments using my rank, fairly low as it is.

But it's also true in my view that a silver should never try to argue with a diamond about the game, if the silver really knew better then he/she would be higher up already, or have some kind of proof on hand.

In that sense rank is a great source of credibility, by being diamond you have essentially confirmed to everyone that you posses a certain level of skill, and that you probably know the game better than a majority of players.

And from their more experienced viewpoints i can clearly see how some arguments made by us lower ranking ones might seem silly as heck or completely off the mark when discussing something.

It's kinda like a student of some science subject trying to argue with a doctor with a PHD, sure the student might have a textbook on hand but the doctor probably still knows the best methods given the situation, in 9 out of 10 cases due to having already finished the students book and a number of others and having acquired immense experience working on the subjects.

I think, generally speaking, as long as you play ranked and have a sufficient sample size, your rank is pretty indicative of your skill in the game, assuming you're taking it seriously (which is a large assumption, I know)

That doesn't mean that you know everything about the game. It's possible that you are Challenger because you have amazing reaction times and video-gamey skills and just one-trick pony an OP champ to victory, but in general, you are finding a way to win more than someone in Bronze. That's just the way it is. Bronze players as a population are going to get trounced by Challengers as a population, over a sample size.

I hear these anecdotes "My buddy is bronze and he beat a diamond player in lane!" - okay, let them play 10 games and see their winrate. You saw the 1 time, not the 9 other theoretical times your buddy got crushed.

i find it really funny how some people 100% attribute rank to skill meanwhile this diamond fiora is trying to tower dive a full hp megagnar

No one should use their rank to validate their argument. If you have something to say, you should be able to proof it. This might be difficult in some cases, but it should be possible to offer a logical reason at the very least. Do you think a physics noble-prize winner can just declare new laws and formulas without getting some numbers to explain those conclusions?

The opposite is actually true. The better someone is at something, the higher are expectations of others to receive qualified answers.

But I have to mention this: There are also a lot of players who don't want to accept advice on principle. Occasionally it does pay off to listen to whatever others have to say, even if their way of sharing that bit of information is sometimes hard to digest.

Hi,

I think its more the circumstances in the game rather than what others are saying to you. If you are playing with smurfs, the kda of these smurfs do matter. Calling you trash and silver garbage isnt going to solve anything, but neither is an angry post in the league of legends boards talking about how ignorant those people are. If you are going 1-10-0 in a game and other people are criticizing you on your decision make, you should be listening on what they are saying and improving for future games. (calling you silver trash is not criticism) Most smurfs wont even tell you they are smurfing unless they are either 1- Not smurfing and boosted or 2- actually smurfing from diamond 3+ and confident in their gameplay.

I don't care that you're getting a flashy gold or plat border and a victorious skin, it doesn't mean everything you do in the game is the right decision and I need to quit the game.

But it does mean, that the higher ranked guy is doing something better than you, no? Or it does mean, that although to you it may be a wrong decision but in actuality it's a right decision, no? Since he is higher ranked, it at-least tell that he used something, he might have used his brain to get that rank, no? [sg-ezreal] Just askin no need to hate...

You're asking a little too much from the players.

Also reminder that some of the stupidest things are said by diamond 5 players despite being the top 1%.

See this is why NA is trash tier. You all think you're special snowflakes when there is evidence to the contrary.

In Asia rank means everything. People will respect you for having a high rank and defer to you since the rank is proof that you are better. People try to get better and dedicate themselves to play better. Or simply give up and play casually.

Here in NA people throw tantrums make excuses and claim rank is meaningless because "one time I saw an x bronze beat a y gold" anecdotal evidence. I mean if getting high rank is so "easy" Why can't you do it?

If a higher ranked person than me told me what I was doing wrong and told me how I can improve, and given that they are not actively trolling - I would listen to them and seriously consider what they have to say, instead of screaming like an autistic child and claiming that he got carried there.

I had a Jinx ADC call me a bronzy and tell me that building Guinsoos was the best option vs their armor stacking 1 person, two had tabi team. They also said it was a good ADC item every game, and told me "muted bronzy"

Yes

Not that i condone telling people to quit the game but giving advice rarely has a positive affect as people with your mindset will merely interpet that advice as your a shit player with shit strategy quit baddie regardless of how its worded.

here's an actual example i tried once and got raging flaming hatred in response.

Ping inhib tower, hey we need you to collpase on that inhib tower with us to secure an objective you can farm my jungle after. The response was FK YOU I SKILLED YO NOE NOTHING!

We eventually got a lucky break and managed to catch out one of their carrys to win the game mean while the guy i gave positive strategy advice went full on tilt because he was upset at the mere implication that his decision to farm a camp was not the correct one.

So no often enough people will just interpet that advice the same way as if you had called them trash because in their viewpoint saying that they need to be doing something else or pushing a wave instead of taking our junglers gromp results in the same conclusion in their minds.
