Tweak to Annie's Kit (as the DFG compensation)

Hi Riot and everyone else reading this!

So I've seen the PBE changes to Annie's kit, but I would like to suggest different and simple change for her, that would compensate for the DFG removal. Rather than making her E (Molten Shield) give a shield and speed boost to Tibbers, I would like to propose another change:

  • additionally to what her E does, right at cast, it could deal medium blast of damage to her surrounding enemies. (AoE range similar to Sunfire Cape)

Here are the possible damage ratios: [40/75/110/145/180 +40% AP]

Now, what would this change result in?

  • You would be able to deal extra damage to caught enemies at the risk of dying by getting too close.
  • You could use this spell as a more effective defense tool, by tactically stunning sticky melee enemies
  • You would gain another tool to effectively clear the lane (again, at the risk of getting exposed to your enemies)
  • ..and I'm sure plenty of more tricks players could pull off with this change

Well, that's about it from my side. Tell me what do you think of this suggestion and if you like it more then the upcoming change or not.

she doesn't need compensation lmao

Maybe she does, maybe she doesn't. Riot definitely thinks she does so I'm sticking with that. :)

They also said they wanted Tibbers to be useful after he's summoned for more than just soaking tower hits. The rework looks awesome. Your suggestion seems like it would remove Annie's only spell that can hold onto her stun.

I'll have to disagree with you then, because by giving Tibbers a shield makes him able to soak up even more tower hits, then it does now. The speed boost is actually interesting feature, but making it combined with her shield doesn't really make too much sense (to me at least)...

Now, I know that this spell could no longer be used for preserving the stun, but I think it was used mainly for charging it anyway, which would still be capable of.

This is merely a QoL change. She does not need a damage buff.

The only change that needs to happen to Annie is less point and click. She and a lot of mages have point and click spells which allow for little/no counterplay. When abilities require skill to utilize effectively they can be tuned around the difficulty to land. Below are my proposed changes to Annie.

Q: Make it a directional pass AOE Increase damage a bit. Keep but lower the mana regain for killing units. 25-50% on minions 100% on Champions. Remove CDR reset. W: Increase range and damage. E: I like what OP said about aoe burst but If added the defensive stats should go. R: Ground target skillshot that has a travel time and increase the range slightly. Yeah she summons Tibbers, but she's been holding him in her hand the whole time. Have her toss the bear onto a location. This gives both counterplay to Tibbers by having him treated as a projectile (Braum and Yasuo's walls can be used to counter) while allowing Annie players to make plays from longer range.

people are so focused on that dfg active they are forgetting all ap mages and assassins are losing a core ap and cdr item as well drastically neutering their damage potential making their struggles vs champs like akali and zed even harder

Very few champions build DFG as a core item, and most of them don't need compensation. Akali and Zed are getting nerfed in 5.2.
