I don't believe you understand the title correctly. The topic was never reffering that whe don't have supportive MR item. Whe actualy have plenty of them:

  • item 3105 that build into item 3190 (HP/MR/CDR) and item 3060 (HP/MR/AP/CDR) [new buildline on pbe]
  • item 3001 as HP/AP item
  • item 3028 that build into item 3222 (MR/Mreg/CDR) and item 3174 (MR/Mreg/AP/CDR)

You can't compair an MR/HP/CDR item with an MR/AP/CDR oriënted item.

So far whe will get 3 supportive mr aura items (2 to increase it & 1 to reduce it). While on the other side of the picture whe have item 3222 . These options are verry limited for supports.

An example: Let's say you play a poke support. Their are a fell available builds for this depending what champion and and situation (boots & sightstone not include):

  • item 3092item 3165
  • (item 3098 )item 3151item 3116
  • (item 3098 )item 3157item 3023
  • (item 3098 )item 3128item 3001

Let's say you play Morgana support:

  • If you have an advantage you can build item 3157.
  • If you get snowballed really hard you will be forced into building item 3222.

Both build cases are really extreem for a poke support. You rather build full agro or just build something passive entirely. Their is something in between that's item 3174 but that item was never design for a poke support anyway.

That's why their is room for an MR/AP/CDR item for these kind of builds.

Well, before the trinkets came out, I would say that Riot didn't want to put summoner spells on items. As it is, this isn't a bad item. It doesn't have an obscene stat efficiency, it gives stats useful for supports, and it has a strong active. I could easily see this being picked up against assassins, similar to Mikael's Crucible against CC or Locket of the Iron Solari against AoE magic damage.

Well that's the whole point about it. A singe target offensive support item.

That's what Frost Queen's Claim is for. Pick one, damage/CC or tank stats.
