Want to know what happens when a champion gets Reverse Sejuani'd?

Ivern is what happens Riot decided buffing him and his items in the same patch was a good idea... well it wasn't

Wtf?

Ivern didn't get good because he was buffed. He got strong because the jungle got way harder to clear and he literally doesn't fight his jg...or yours. Add the fact that Locket and Redemption are blatantly broken and it's obvious Ivern is ridiculous.

If you guys remember: He was weak as SHIT on release because we still had the old jg. Riot gave him a few buffs...then made the jg harder. Then he SKYROCKETED in win rate and has remained powerful since, even after nerfing him.

He wasn't...or rather, he wasn't and his environment was just horrible. His win rate coming out was like the 30s. Like HORRIBLY low iirc.

Hong Kong Revolt2 votes

Because people were going thunderlords Echo protobelt on him. His current winrate with that build is about what it was on launch.

chipndip11 votes

And we disregard the fact that Ivern went from one of the slowest to one of the fastest junglers in one patch because "Fuck me", right?

ChaoticPinecone1 votes

Why cant it be both? Ivern requires setup. In a jungle thats easy to clear, having that safety during your first clear is rare since youre more susceptible to invades. When the Jungle gets so difficult that even Lee Sin, Udyr, and Shyvana are getting wreaked by the Raptors, having Ivern's passive is just that much stronger.

Yes, people learned how to play him. Yes, items he is good with got buffed. But his biggest weakness right now (1v1s) isnt being exploited due to the difficulty of the jungle camps. When level 2/3 invades becomes meta again, then you can expect Ivern's dominance to fall.

Out of curiosity, why is this called reversed sejuani'd?

Big Lincoln39 votes

In season 5 they released Cinderhulk which became Sejuani's best item and made her incredibly good. Riot responded by kneecapping Sejuani for being good with an item, then they slashed Cinderhulk the next patch to hurt her even more

To 'Sejuani' someone is to nerf them because they have synergy with an item and then nerfing the item.

More recently, they did the same thing to Master Yi.

Sated Devourer + Guinsoo's Rageblade made him obnoxiously strong for well over half a season but Riot refused to nerf him or the items.

One or two patches before they decided to rework (nerf) Devourer and Guinsoo's Rageblade, they decided to nerf Master Yi's kit significantly and left him in the dumpster.

Succubús GF19 votes

I am pretty sure i have spectated a few diamond elo yi games :O "muh dumpster"

SpongebobIsLife1 votes

that's bc they just buffed him like 2 patches ago. Improved clear time and stuff

EndlessSorcerer9 votes

They have buffed him since but he was very weak between the removal of Sated Devourer (Patch 6.9) and direct buffs to his kit (6.21, 6.24, 7.2).

He is currently viable but he was a horrible pick for well over half a season.

Back during sated devourer they also did this with patch 4.20 Weedwick, nerfed his kit and nerfed the item he was abusing.

I honestly don't know what riot was thinking when they released sated devourer... Nothing like trying to live as a tank against that vayne who's sated and has a dead man's plate.. x.x

They were trying their hardest to salvage the idea of a scaling jungling item that begun with Feral Flare.

Needless to say it had 100% failure rate.

Dreadlocks1 votes

They did it with Udyr and his R + runic echos

Sejuani was completely fine for all of season 4 before and after the mini-rework she got, and in season 5 when we had Juggernaut instead of Cinderhulk, she wasn't offensive.

When you introduce an item that pushes a group of champions Sejuani Sion Zac Amumu Rammus into OP status, you nerf the item first and then assess if they're still too strong. Instead, Sejuani had the damage on her W neutered (it was halved on the auto attack, and IIIRC the health ratio on the spin was hit, could be wrong here), Sion was nerfed, and then Cinderhulk got the nerfs it deserved, leaving both of the champions mediocre for quite a while, with Sion resurfacing primarily as a support and his jungle pretty much killed off.

That's not how you do balance, and Riot's acknowledged as much in hindsight.

with Sion resurfacing primarily as a support and his jungle pretty much killed off.

While his jungle play rate did effectively vanish, it was still higher than his support play rate until around mid Season 6, and he has certainly never been primarily support. Until last spring he had less than 5% play rate as a support, and didn't break 10% until pre-season 7 with the updated support items and Courage of the Colossus. He's up to 30-35% play rate as a support now, but definitely can't be considered a primarily support champion.

Ralanr1 votes

Honestly I'm afraid they'll nerf him to make his support worse, only for his top to really suffer and for him to be played more in support.

I don't want them to Malz Sion.

Glory ln Death3 votes

Support Sion isn't especially oppressive, though, and has pretty strong counters, especially in higher tiers. If Riot brings back tank supports through itemization buffs or something, he could get too strong, but I'm not too worried.

However, if they did want to nerf his support, I'd be a bit concerned, since I can't think of many changes that would only affect Support Sion and not Top/Jungle Sion. The only one I can really think of is changing his shield to scale off his stacks, rather than max health (and that would be a huge buff to AD Sion, so I doubt they'd do it).

ChaoticPinecone1 votes

Hindsight is 20/20 - we know now that nerfing both Sej and Cinderhulk didnt end very well for her. But at her height, she had a 55%+ winrate and a 75-90% banrate. All the indicators showed that while Cinderhulk was a bit too strong, Sej was the biggest abuser - in order for her to get to the levels of Amumu, Gragas or Zac (who werent weak before or after Cinderhulk's popularity), she would need more nerfs than just her itemization.

That would be awesome, Seju carrying her Pig around for like Half the Game, and hitting People over the Head with it while complaining all the Time about that "stupid lazy boar"

PaladinNO1 votes

There is one such image out there). Personally, I'd say it's SFW, but it does include a kiss between two girls (for no real reason either). Considering the NA Board mods gets their balls in a twist over just about everything, I don't think I can post it here.
