Anivia's passive doesn't make sense for her playstyle.
It doesn't make sense that a super safe, long-range champion should gain virtual immunity to assassins and all-ins and tower dives with a passive meant for champions like
.
Look at
. His passive makes sense on him. Yes, he is pretty powerful right now, but he all-ins everyone, likely tower diving to get a kill. The passive makes sense on him because he is always in the thick of battle, taking damage.
Anivia is a very strong mage that can annihilate you from distance, likely without her even taking damage. But even when she does take damage she can just pop her egg, possibly teleport away safely, and basically never die.
It was much worse when GA wasn't an AD item because she would literally NEVER die, but the passive still doesn't make logical sense on a squishy mage (mages should be vulnerable to these assassins/all-in champions right?)
She has a 54% or more winrate in every ELO; this isn't just a bronze problem. And her average with experienced players reaches almost 58-59%. She's definitely the safest champion currently in League of Legends, with huge range and that passive.
An idea for a passive that still gives her protection but leaves her vulnerable is: When Anivia is below 40% health she will occasionally summon thick ice around her, taking 10% (+5% per 100 AP) less damage, increased to (+12.5% per 100 AP) when below 20% health, for up to 8 seconds. Capped at -50%/-90%.
