Remember how Riot recently nerfed Talon to hell?

B3ER·2/2/2015, 10:42:16 PM·67 votes·15,383 views

They removed a large part of his power in the silence (which admittedly was an understandable change), replaced it with a shitty slow (not even a channel breaker), PROMISED appropriate compensation and then proceeded to just fucking forget about him.

It's shit like this that makes us that makes us lose trust in you Riot. It's the Cassio rework, the Skarner rework, the Olafing of Olaf and many more that make us hate your lying, condescending, sh.....

I'd love to be less civil here, but I'm gonna pretend like I'm a nice guy and leave it at this. I want you to read this thread and remember that you're failing a large part of your player base. Get your act together.

To be fair, I love the new Skarner and I've found a lot of success and fun with him, but to each their own. For the most part I totally agree with you, Riot needs to make good on what they tell us, and we need some transparency from them.

Evelynn......

So she is an assassin with...almost no scaling whatsoever and is forced to play as a pseudo tank with only one soft cc. Cool.

I think Talon is still pretty good.

Olaf needs work. Cass is pretty good right now.

I like the new Skarner.

Since when did Riot promise to compensate Talon more than the shit they threw at Cutthroat?

And since when does Riot's promises matter to them?

Honestly, I'm just glad they didn't nerf Talon's damage while they are at it.

What??? A talon thread without massive down-votes??? What the fuck is going on???

It's funny you mention the Cassio rework, considering how strong a showing she's had in competitive play and higher ELO. Also, Talon is still quite strong, and the silence only gave him the ability to shut down any resistance from casters he goes on. In 99% of the same matchups, he still kills them before they can kill him.

Talon is as powerful as other assassins, except for the fact he has mana, that's why he's underplayed.

As a big Zyra mid/Vel'Koz/Lux player, I am terrified when I have to lane vs Talon (Was even worse before the removal of the silence), he counters me as hard as is doing Zed.

To be fair, the Skarner rework eventually came around to being something that's acceptable. Just took...several months after rework first happened.

But really, Talon isn't extremely terrible. Talon still has an advantage against most of the casters he originally did, except now they have SOME opportunity to outplay him. Especially considering that most mage mid laners have pretty significant mana problems in lane.

Talon isn't the end all of mid laning, he still has decent trading with strong one shot potential and aoe.... Honestly talons weaknesses were mana and ad damage (minor downsides), his kit was insanely strong and I think he's in a decent spot with the removal of his counterplay removal. And before you prattle on with his lack of competitive representation before and pick rate I already considered that, he's too linear of a champ for competitive play, just jumps on and runs out, they like champs who can be used different ways for all the situations they have to deal with. Because pros didn't like him he flew under the communities radar for a long time but he was OP af (I say this with fondness)

Talon was the first champion I actually loved to play, and that was before the change. I have to say I was upset at the change to his E (but ultimately was needed), but thought that the slow was extremely bad. Channel stopping was a really big part of Talon's play and his safety. It gave him a higher role than just "squishy burster." My biggest complaint is that assassins like LeBlanc and Zed are extremely safe and are stronger, but Talon has to commit to his kills but can't be allowed more reliability?

I'm going to have to put myself at risk of mass-downvoting here:

I like Talon's assassination kit because it's very high-risk/high-reward. I.E. he has to try to commit to a kill. Unlike Zed who warps out regardless.

However - the fact that his kit is pretty much point at the enemy and hit everything is definitely not healthy. You appear on them. They explode. Or they don't explode, and you probably die.

So the skill is in his decision-making. Can I assassinate that person? Is it worth the risk of diving in? Will I be able to escape with my ulti if I mess up?

But mechanically, he seems Garen-tier. Appear on enemy, press everything, hope they die.

I'm glad he has the strategic skillcap, but I really, honestly don't think an assassin that is that mechanically easy should be stronger than Talon is right now.

Also, Talon is balanced. Arguing that someone deserves buffs because they lose to broken champions is kind of redundant. Talon is finally balanced. Why bring him to the broken champions' levels? Just bring the broken champions down so he can contend again.
