Some Basic Shaco Math

So, you wanna know how much damage Shaco does? I was bored enough to break his most frequent build (which also has the higher winrate) down to you guys!

Here it goes!

TL;DR: If you're squishy and is not getting at 100 MR and building at least some extra 200 HP, you'll get 100-0'ed in about 0.5 seconds

Considering level 18 for all that matters. Also adjusting for his post-nerf state. Only mastery considered is the Keystone, so that potential +17,5% extra damage won't be taken into account.

>Not related to the maths, but isn't it ridiculous that we can get almost 18% bonus damage from masteries alone? Anyway, back to what you came for! Maths for you nerdz!

BUILD: item 3100 item 1402 item 3146 item 3089 item 3135 item 3020

KEYSTONE: THUNDERLORDS DECREE

STATS: 567 AP 157 AD 35% MAGIC PEN 15 FLAT MPEN

MATH:

Shaco Q: (157 AD + 80 Base Damage + 40% AP Scaling)*1,45 672,5 Damage

item 3100: 87,75 Base Damage from his AD + 50% AP Scaling 371,25 Damage

item 1402 60 Base Damage + 10% AP Scaling 116,7 Damage

item 3146 250 Base Damage + 30% AP Scaling 420,1 Damage

Thunderlords: 180 Base Damage + 30% Bonus AD + 10% Bonus AP 248,7 Damage

The Auto Attack made out of stealth with a Backstab bonus and a Gunblade Active will deal 1829,25 Damage in about 0.3 seconds as Gunblade has no cast time and the proc from Runic Echoes will trigger Thunderlords.

Seeing as the Average ADC has about 50 Extra Magic resist in his build, he will end up with a total of 80 MR.

This 80 MR will be effectively reduced to 52 due to Void Staff, and then reduced to 37 with Sorc Shoes.

So this combo will get it's damage reduced by 27% and will deal 1335.35 Damage.

Now we get to Shaco's E.

E: 125 Base Damage + 75% AD + 75% AP + 8% of target's missing health So it will deal 125+117.75+425.25+106.8 = 774.8 Damage

This will once again get reduced by 27%, resulting in 565,6 Damage.

The Q+E combo will then result in 1900 TRUE DAMAGE to it's target.

Seeing as ADCs average at 1917 hp, it's fair enough to say that in a team fight, Shaco is more than able to one shot them, specially if we include the %Damage Increase masteries that can add up to an aditional 17,5% extra damage.

Pre-nerf, he'd have an extra 10% AP ratio on his Q (which would become an extra 14,5% with his passive) and an extra 15% AP + 10% AD ratio on his E. This would grant him an extra 190 Damage before reductions or 140 Damage after reductions, meaning his burst used be be at 2050 True Damage, much more than enough to kill a squishy.

Shaco is trash. He can abuse the AP items extremely well and the execute damage on E helps. But it's almost entirely the items because of how they ruined his kit.

TequilaZombie1 votes

To be more precise, the items are dealing 2/3 of his instant burst. Or about 50% out of it if we calculate the damge from his E as well.

It's a classic abuse case.

I don't get why the old AD Shaco needed to be gutted. It wasn't instantaneous, still took around half a second even with a perfect gank on a squishy target. But pinks revealed him coming, CC stopped him, he punished bad positioning/bad warding, and could splitpush as well as pick.

i don't see the problem

extended kill time just gives us Talon who ADCs laugh at and lifesteal off of while he tries to burst them

and AP Shaco has no other redeeming qualities whatsoever

Dracocrash1 votes

But he does have redeeming qualities.

Trickery with his ult.

Stealth with his Q

Fear and damage with good setup of boxes near objectives.

Big Lincoln1 votes

usually you only trick people with ult after hiding in a bush.

In teamfights people can ping you as soon as you ult and it'll reveal you. any status debuffs or indicators like garen's villain thing, exhaust, ignite, etc etc. will too

I'd like to say boxes are great but there are too many times when a fucking plant reveals them all

TequilaZombie1 votes

Plants? What about this item 3364 thing that every support worth their salt uses around objectives and choke points?

Big Lincoln1 votes

that and now item 3147 so any retard stumbling across them disables them too

I'm still set at making AD Shaco mid a thing. I know for a fact I can use my position on mid lane to be a dick to enemy junglers if I pack smite and know that I can exploit every small mistake if I pack my usual Ignite Exhaust combo.

But holy fuck how much raw power was lost on the update.

i'm gonna keep saying it, his passive needs to be %bonus damage on the attack instead of a crit.

Make it so that instead, Q is a guaranteed crit (IF IT BACKSTABS) so that AD Shaco actually has a reason to utilize his passive, and actually benefits from doing so

Inb4 someone says "he's an assassin he is meant to do that".

Well, seeing as every other aspect of Shaco has been removed either due to AP Shaco becoming the viable build or because Riot counciously gutted it (Like how his clone deals even less damage to turrets now), I'd say it's fair that he is able to one shot a squishy with no defenses. The problem was mostly that before the Hotfix an ADC could invest into a item 3156, an item MEANT to fuck with AP assassins, and still be 100-0'ed. At least now the Shaco player needs to be a bit more aware and work around the item's CD or go for hurt targets.

I honestly believe that the biggest problem with Shaco is his ability to abuse those items. AP Items with extra damage are inherently more powerful than it's AD counterparts due to how gated and situational they are supposed to be. Well, when you can get into melee range from stealth and proc all of them at once instantly, you have a problem, specially if the user happens to be a free Lich Bane passive on his Stealth Gap Closer.

Another champ that can instantly apply the damage from all those items while using every single one of their stats.

I kinda understand why Riot is afraid of creating more AP assassin's items.

Saianna1 votes

Please be a lil bit more bored and include the same math for pre "rework" Shaco :)

TequilaZombie1 votes

I gotta pretend to be useful at work. But in about an hour expect my personal Excel Spreadsheet with it. You can also mix and match to see what you could expect with different builds (assuming you know the stats the items give).

Saianna1 votes

Thanks, nice

So If I understand it old shaco dealt more damage, yes?

And they nerf him further..

EDIT: Old Shaco has no ratios on W and R seems to be glitching ;P

TequilaZombie1 votes

R and W only show up on the first table, as they are not affected by his passive (which is on the second). If you add some AP in the top right corner, you should see the increase in damage on those abilities.

EDIT: Just checked, the 160% AP he had (and still has) on his W is there, and R is working as intended.

PS: AD Shaco dealt much more damage then than now, AP got buffed, gaining, after the nerf 13% more damage than he had before. Pre-nerf he had a 42,5% extra AP ratio if using Q+Passive+E

Just dropped in to say I misread the title of this post. Was expecting an exquisite literary journey regarding Shaco's decent into madness due to his meth use, am disappointed this is not the case.

TequilaZombie1 votes

Meth didn't created Shaco, Shaco created Meth.

Shac Norris1 votes

I main AP Shaco as a support.

How am i supposed to do anything now? How am i supposed to even get to the late game?

TequilaZombie1 votes

Supports getting to the late game in 2k16? Is that even a thing?
