Shouldn't Riot implement a method to detect why someone DC'ed?

So this way they punish people in a fairer way.

So far there are 3 methods to DC:

  1. Using the Exit button from menu;
  2. Closing the Client from Task Manager
  3. Getting DC'ed from the server( "Attempting to reconnect message shows up").

It's pretty obvious that using the Exit button is intentionally leaving the game, while in some cases you have to close the client because the game stucks or you even have to restart the PC/laptop altogether.

Instead of punishing people based on afk behaviour alone, the means of disconnecting should affect the severity of the punishment, with the server DC not yielding any punishment.

Not gonna work because the game won't know wether you actually have an internet issue or you shut down your internet / computer. You're basically giving trolls a tool to quit games without getting punished for it.

Your idea sounds nice in theory but isn’t that simple in reality. If I were to quit a game I would just cut my connection and not reconnect in order to prevent the harsher punishment. It would be way too easy to abuse in several ways because connection lost means connection lost, intentional or not (Riot would not be able to check that).

Really no point. If they make the leave function in game punish you more then people will just not use it. People will just alt+f4 or turn their wifi off or unplug their router etc etc
