It's nice to have infinite AP from his Q but I'd rather have it have a cap. Around 150 cap but with a buff once you reach it. Maybe increase the range of his Q or/and W. Getting some MS maybe?
Could also make it a couple buffs per tiers. at 50 you gain a small buff. 100 giving another and 150 giving the last one.
EDIT: By capping his Q farm you can then empower his kit more.
nobody complains about veigars q or his play style. They complain about veigar not having a reliable cc mechanic to survive the 40,000 blinks in the mid lane.
If Riot did that, then they would have to compensate him somehow, because capping his AP hurts his lategame potential MASSIVELY. He has one of the worst early games in the game, thus ruining his late game would give him no reason to be picked; too much risk for such little reward.
I'd be cool with capping his stacking, but in return I want some checkpoint buffs to Veigar (including one at a very low number of stacks he can get in the very early game) so that he can be a lot more powerful in the early game than he is now. Maybe something like Cass's passive.
Nasus has no cap, Sion has no cap, Thresh has no cap, Bard has no cap. If Veigar really needs a cap on his bonus AP-it should be at least 300 AP, with a 50% bonus spell range once he gets there and maybe +15% cdr after 100 AP and +40 MS after 200 AP
