I got some coaching from a good coach and here are some things I learnt from the lesson

Hope this helps some people! It definitely did help me!

  1. Think about what you're doing. Never do anything without thinking, "Well, how does this benefit me or my team?".
  2. KDA doesn't mean as much as many people think it does, especially if you're playing a support. Don't be afraid to die to save whoever is carrying the game.
  3. The concept that you should always be warding is slightly inaccurate. You should not be tossing out wards bot if no one is MIA, and the enemy jungler is top side. That wastes the ward's lifespan.
  4. Don't be afraid to shot call, especially if you're doing well, and/or if the rest of the team is doing poorly. Having a leader tell them what to do is more than comforting to these people, and creates a sense of unity and morale.
  5. Level two powerspike is very important. If you're bot, try to shove lane so you can hit it before your enemy.
  6. Have good map awareness, and know when you can do objectives. If their jungler and another person is bot, and everyone on your team are top, Baron is free. (As long as you guys aren't super behind)
  7. Rotate efficiently. Do not 5v1 an underfed Garen top lane only to lose mid turret, or have three people clear one wave of super minions with pressure on other lanes.
  8. If you know the enemy is on the right side of the jg and you're taking a turret, position yourself as far left as you can so you put the maximum amount of space between you and them.
  9. Control wards aren't as gold efficient as I used to think they were. As ADC, you shouldn't be carrying two around at all times. If you buy four control wards as ADC, that's 300g that could've gone to a dagger. It's much better to have map awareness instead.
  10. Absorb as much pressure as you can. If you're getting camped, just sit under turret and pick off minions instead of trying to fight. If your team is smart, they should be able to do well in their lanes, knowing that the enemy jungler is less likely to visit them.
  11. If you're support, always buy a support item. For example, there are almost no situations that justify building a Doran's ring instead of Spellthief's.

I think the learning was more personalized, and I definitely got some good tips from live coaching (I found out that as ADC, I had absolutely shit positioning and was way too open handed with my summoner spells)

I can agree with this. Individual lessons do help a lot.

You could have learned all this for free.

Instead of only being told these things theoretically or by watching someone else do it, he/she was able to learn these things while either doing or by talking about it. It may not be necessary, but it sure makes for a more effective learning experience.

Nothing feels better than making the enemy team chase my 2/7 looking ass while my fed adc kills them all one by one

Another tip: know the strengths and weaknesses of not only your champ, but it would be better if you know all the other champs in the game. Make sure you know the strengths and weaknesses of your build and your team’s builds. AND MAKE SURE TO COMMUNICATE THE WEAKNESSES OF THE BUILD TO YOUR TEAM! The main reason people get mad at off meta stuff is because they don’t understand how to play with those builds.

For example: don’t be a passively farming garen when you have to bully the enemy nasus so he doesn’t out scale you. Or don’t go super agressive as nasus in the early lvls (before lvl 6) when the enemy is a bully champ and can easily beat you in early. Or make sure your team has somebody tanky if you are going a full damage build as a ¨tanky¨ champ.

To add a couple things:

9.Control wards aren't as gold efficient as I used to think they were. As ADC, you shouldn't be carrying two around at all times. If you buy four control wards as ADC, that's 300g that could've gone to a dagger. It's much better to have map awareness instead.

The key when playing as ADC is to try to keep one on you and use it (usually in your tri-bush) when you know the enemy has a ward there to clear. this gives you at least a bit of your gold back, and of course gives you that semi-permanent vision control at one of the entrances to your lane (and your jungle, in the tri-bush) that can be capitalized on quite easily if your opponents go out of position to clear it. This is especially effective at lower elos, but even in higher level play, fighting over wards can get pretty grisly if the players are prepared to contest. Either way, pink wards in tri-bush benefit both you and your jungler, and are harder to outright remove than river wards, thus making them imo the best investment for ADC's pink ward placement. Speaking of...

12: From my experience, ward placement (or I'll call it "vision quality") is almost more important than total vision score when it comes to map awareness. One of my personal favorites as a bot laner is to ward (not even in a bush) right in the middle of river, between dragon and the entrance to purple team's blue buff. This covers both dragon, and one of the main paths that a jungler will take to go bot lane. Bonus points if you're blue team, and your mid wards the bush in front of the other entrance, as you have total vision of all entrances to river from their jungle as well as all vision on entrances to your team's red side, and the dragon. This is one ward usually best left to the support as more of a preventative ward (which are still important, just not as important as they're made out to be) but it will most times actually spot a jungler faster than the traditional river bush ward...the exceptions being Kayn and Zac, who will just gank through/over the wall with their E.

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind!

If you're support, always buy a support item. For example, there are almost no situations that justify building a Doran's ring instead of Spellthief's.

Why would he say this? Did he say that because you didn't build support items before coaching or?

All good and dandy but..

Absorb as much pressure as you can. If you're getting camped, just sit under turret and pick off minions instead of trying to fight. If your team is smart,

Ha.
