Tanks & CDR
Whenever we talk about tanks where always placed in a position that they are eather to strong and deal to much damage or they are just weak and are useless. Whatever place you place them you always need to make them overpowered to make them functional. So I was thinking a way to solve this issue. And I might have an idea:
Tanks deal a fair amount of damage on paper. It's just in the recent years they have become a real problem and that's already the answer on the question: Their is to much cdr. Overal the years abilities have been reduced in cooldown by hugh amounts. In older seasons you could get 10% cdr and you where already full build. Now you get like 40% every game. This cdr requirement also make it harder for tanks to play effectively from behind. Your behind in your build so you will have to wait another 30 seconds more for your next ult. No wonder that their ult cooldown has been reduced that drasticly. I think riot need to address the following things:
- Not all champions should have the same cdr cap. I think it would be nice to have some tanks or other champions arround that only have 20 or 30%. This would also give an additional boost to the "Transcendence" rune for those that do overcap it.
- Similar to for example Jhin. Some champions should gain other stats from building cdr. An example for this could be Maokai's. Rather than gaining reduction on his abilities he would get ability power or mana.
- An 3th thing I want to see is ability that are not effected by cooldown reduction like an ultimate. This means that when a certain tank is behind he still has a consistent impact on the game.
I believe this combination of changes would also help ballancing out tank assassins or other future problems it might encounter. The only thing we have to be carefull about is that we don't push out to many untraditional tank supports out of that lane now building cdr would been less impactfull.
