As a Shen player, I am torn about this tank update.
#1. We are getting tank base stats updated and items will emphasize those. On the plus side... Shen will be a part of that (hopefully) and he will most likely benefit from this change.
On the downside... Having free MR per level might prove to be an issue for Shen since his only damage is flat %HP magic damage, which falls off the hardest against any MR, meaning tanks will destroy him just by leveling up. Additionally, Shen's base stats are horrid compared to other tanks and Riot might continue this trend.
#2. New tank items means new passives and actives for tanks to use. On the plus side... Shen might benefit from these items and be able to help cover any glaring weaknesses he currently has, as well as reduce the amount of his lane counters being played.
On the downside... Shen might become broken or miss out on the strongest item given during the update. Additionally, more ways to disable people also hurts Shen since he only has one way to engage on a relatively long cooldown, and one way to protect his allies also on long cooldowns.
#3. The tank meta. On the plus side... A tank meta. Shen actually has time to win his sustained damage fights with his resets rather than getting blown up in seconds. His lane counters contain very few tanks as well. Also, Shen will see more play and maybe Riot will finally realize after all the complaints of the people picking him up how buggy and clunky he is.
On the downside... A tank meta. A bunch of tankier dudes with more CC running around. Makes you feel like the kid on the bleachers.
That's my take on it. Fire away at what you are looking forward to and not looking forward to with this Vanguard update.
sounds. I know I shitpost a lot about her being a juggernaut (it's jokes, i promise), but I really don't like the premise of her being primarily supportive.
are 'toxic' because they give you a lot of power that can't be noticed or played around until it's directly affecting someone, and they haven't been very good items for a long time. It would be a good way to differentiate raw tank-utility items and things that are heavier on stats like
, so that you could sacrifice a little bit of raw durability for conditional but powerful strength, and vice versa
