How will Season 5 be remembered in League of Legends history?

An overall balanced season tbh, every role could have an impact in the game. Til patch 5.15 came. It seemed like the begining of an end with an abomination of a Fiora rework. But the dreadful patch 5.16 left a gaping wound that could not heal. The overloaded, broken Juggernauts and the nerf to only beacon of hope against ranged ADC overlords - armor. The patch left in my opinion one of the darkest metas in the history of the game. From mid season 4's pushing meta with Orianna Ziggs ,permabanned Kassadin , pre nerf Khazixand Feral Flare , i have never seen such obvious disbalance and catering to high burst, high dps champions. And Pre Season 6 only confirms that League has the worst tanking system iin all mobas and wants to bring it to the ground. Between armor reduction, armor penetration, % missing health, % current health and recently % bonus health (i'm looking at latest buffs to your poster child LeeSin ). Not to mention "dynamic groups" update, which will bring the terror of 4-5 man premades to your own ranked que. But atleast with these updates we know where Riots balancing team stands and would kinda admit that this game will never ever be reasonally balanced. I'm really happy with the time that league gave me, but i guess thats all i should expect from a free to play game.

Every season has things people love and hate. I'm a mage/support main and I have really enjoyed the past months. No longer is Zed, Fizz, or Leblanc in every single game. The Juggernauts are strong, but I can kite them as easily as ever, and they are at least slightly easier to kill than full tanks. ADCs still die to magic burst. Veigar and Lux are stronger than ever.

Am I worried about S6 changes? Sure, to an extent. Yasuo with that crit mastery will (most likely) be stupidly strong. ADCs are getting a lot of items to reduce the damage they take -- in my opinion unnecessary. But I also see some good signs: mana regen boosts for many of my magey supports. Incredible buffs to Frostfang and FCQ's mana regen. Buffs to AD-casters and the less-played ADCs (Cait, Twitch, Varus).

The game moves in cycles, there's going to be some adapting. Who's to say that the balance of early Season 5 is the correct balance?

Everything was nice and balanced until the Fire nation Juggernauts came

At least it made banning champions easy. "Hmm who to ban, well cant go wrong with Juggernauts".

And here it is, just like every single year it's the season before it that was balanced and perfectly fine.

How many "WER MUH DIVRSITY AT RITO" threads did we have? Or everyone throwing a tantrum after every single patch over everything?

I remember so many threads complaining endlessly that Season 5 was the worst season and the end of League.

This is not about diversity. I shouldn't say Riot shouldn't buff adcs' (which they did), but it shouldn't be handled in such an obvious fashion. It's like the release of the juggernauts, we knew they would be op, we knew we will pick them for our games and there was nothing you could do about that.

Diversity goes hand and hand with balance, this entire season was riddled with complaints over everything, and even someone like me who defended it every step of the way think it was the worst season so far, it wasn't terrible but it was a mess, Season 6 has me excited because Season 5 is over, it laid out the hard ground work and all it has to do is finish the last of it.

they need to fire who ever thinks these things are pro choice and good for game health. only then will we have a game that everyone can enjoy

Easily the worst season for me, considering what they've done to Cassiopeia.

All I can say about season 5 as we're heading into season 6 is the last quarter of the season had me on edge and pretty much on tilt whenever I saw a mordekaiser. Like you either got a bad one on your team or the enemy team had the god of death and metal just smashing the face of any champion in while your jungler refuses to gank on a morde

Mordekaiser was always an easy gank. But his movement to bot lane brought a somewhat of a safety net.

Season 5 i liked, the assassin meta was finally over with so i could actually play fun things in mid.

Tank's didn't get blown up in 2 seconds by anything and everything, some did and still do a bit too much damage, but i'd rather tanks be relevant for a few months than be total garbage like in season 4.

Overall i thought there wasn't much change to the game throughout the months.

Kalista was left mostly untouched so she was always bot lane, yes trist, ashe, a few others came and went, but nothing really stuck beyond kalista, which kind of sucks, Ashe wasn't even allowed to be viable for 3 patches, it's sad.

Top lane was stale, it was irelia renek into "juggernauts" but they were, are, and always will be easy to beat with both renekton and irelia, so i never got the big deal here.

Mid lane, it was Azir, followed by Azir, with some more Azir, which again wasn't that great, but i actually loved azir since launch so i'm okay with it.

This was far and way the worst year to be a jungler, devourer is garbage, cinderhulk got some of the more fun junglers nerfed than got nerfed itself, which left the jungle meta in this really shitty place of 2 max 3 junglers viable for the entire season after that.

Overall this season had next to no variety in it's top picks, but i'm still happy i didn't have to face assassins, they just make the game really not fun. I'm very sad that they are coming back.

I disagree about assassins. Zed was a pick or ban for nearly half a season. Fizz found a new identity became a menace in the top lane.Katarina reached 54% win rate. But it was nothing overbearing.

Mid? it was all about Ahri this season Annie Azir Viktor came and gone but Ahri stayed at the top the whole season.

Honestly, it was a good season. Assassins didn't rule, Supports weren't just ward bots, games didn't snowball out of control, and the largest pool of champions was played. It could've been amazing if Riot didn't screw everything up with - Mordekaiser Garen Gangplank Darius

Yea 4.2 devourer was balanced.
