who the fuck counters yasuo in mid lane?

MunchCrunchLunch··3 votes·19,358 views

hard counter. because am just sick of the harassement i get from yasuo when i get forced in midlane. am just absolutely sick of it. like for example. kassadin lissandra matchup. lissandra can never possibly win. or a teemo vs an AA based champion. or idk diana vs katarina. is there such a thing for yasuo. in the fucking laning stage. from level 1-10. someone who just doesn't turret hug and be behind on cs and try to avoid all the shit

It takes a few times to really get it down, my first match up against him was bad, but then I just kept at it and now it's my favorite matchup.

Oddly enough with Malzahar being my main, Yasuo is one of the few champs i still have trouble with in lane. I take down his shield, then harrass with e. but before my e comes back off cooldown, he's lifestealed it all back already. Can't focus CS cuz he just pushes waves and spams q and dash. Can't get close enough to fight because he can dash in AA, Q,AA, then dash out. I'm half health and he's still almost full because of his stupid shield and lifesteal. This goes on for a few levels, but i eventually run oom.

any tips?

I meant to respond sooner, but spent an entire day driving for the holiday. First off you should familiarize your max ranges as Malz and his max ranges as Yasuo (You should attempt to do this for all champions, just on a visual basis.). Most will start Q, not going to pretend I know percentages for every Yasuo, but personally, 90% of the Yasuo players I've gone against start Q. Start your E. When he gets his Dash, it will most likely be at 2, he might go wall at 2 thinking he can deflect some of your power. Be sure to maximize your E potential, before you cast it on minions, work the front line, an auto per melee minion and then cast it. Once he has his dash and you've got a little more power in your E, you should work on having a voidling charge up so you can cast your E and get a voidling. Your little voidspawns will attack whatever has E on it, so it will farm for you while you float away from your back line, staying in range to get exp, but not close enough to dash to.

Max your E, Land your W to pop the shield or have the E jump to him. Q when you can, but it's a little harder to land since he's a very mobile champ. At six, you'll want to wait him out, do your best to dodge the empowered Q knock up because it will ruin your ultimate. Make him over commit, he has to get decently close and can only dash to you once before having to wait to do it again, try to drop a Q right on top of you and your W if it's up. E and Ignite and ultimate, try to land all of it, it will take some practice to burst with Malz, but once you got it done, it's a solid killer.

If you're having trouble with his sustain, build a item 3165 and still go for a item 3151 and item 3116 . He'll regret going Yasuo mid in moments.

In Bronze, I have to fight him frequently with Malzahar, and while there isn't much you can do against him in lane, you can resist him pretty well. You have to be careful not to get caught by him and dodge his knock-up, but even then you have your passive to allow some mistakes, while he has to stop your voidlings from farming for you. And you can even suddenly get his life down by a lot if he blindly dashes through waves and isn't careful. Most of the time you need only minimum support from your Jungler to safely kill him, or even do it yourself if his play-stile allows it. The most important part is to keep him busy. If you get a few kills ahead. You are a threat to him, and the rest of his team. When you reach midgame you often are able to take him out as soon as you see him, and I like to follow him around to make sure he doesn't become dangerous for my team. For some reason I win almost every time when facing a Yasuo as Malzahar. I know what he does and can focus on helping my team.

Did it before against Yasuo with Mordekaiser

  • Yasuo's W is 100% useless, as Morde does not have any projectiles.
  • Can block tons of pokes with his passive shield.
  • Idiotic Yasuo players tends to go to his face for pokes, so punish him hard with his 3-hit wonder Q.
  • Very ez to poke Yasuo with E, especially when it comes to proccing off the shield. Even if Yasuo tries to counter-poke, your passive shield can negate most of the damage.

Very interesting! I will try this the next time in draft I see Yasuo mid! One question though, how would you do any damage to Yasuo? His shield would surely absorb your E unless you melee him, but if you just want a quick trade(auto, E) he's going to all in you so getting in melee is possibly out of the question...I think. I haven't tried Morde since they changed his Q again from 1-2-9000 to whatever it is now)

Max E when going against him. Usually when you try to poke him with your E, it's highly recommended that you aim him & some of his minions in order to gain the maximum shield. After you use E & Yasuo happens to come to your face, AA once & hit him again with Q. Hit your W in the meantime to grab some sustain whilst waiting to hit your 2nd & 3rd Q. They really hurt a lot even at Level 1.

Ryze Gets tanky, the rune prison has no particle to be blocked, E lowers the MR of Yas who already has rather low MR, AND if you ult you get sick spell vamp. item 3110 Great buy.

I can agree with some of those, but not all of them.

Zed (in low elo) typically loses to Yasuo. Annie can be countered, so can Diana and LeBlanc.

item 3140 has a 90 sec CD. You can still poke/harass over and over this item does not stop Malzahar from beating Yasuo at all. matter of fact is makes yasuo worse due to it taking an offensive out of his lineup. I kill him 80% of the time without ever using my ult.

Kayle beats him down pretty hard, her ranged auto attacks don't have projectiles so while he is popping out walls and dashing around you just keep swinging away. Also the aoe on her autos can be used to pop his shield before you plan to go in and do real damage.

No I was being serious, but she's not a super hard counter to him I just haven't lost to a Yas as her yet sooo... That's not saying much, however...

Mordekaiser Malzahar Xerath Counter his windwall playstyle.

Xerath is the only one that has a harder time because of his skillshots, however all of his main sources of damage can go through Yas' windwall effectively making it useless. Only thing he can block is the E. He can dodge your skills easily, but Xerath stays pretty far in the backline so you're not gonna have too much trouble... At least while mana is concerned.

Malzahar not only cause he lacks projectiles but his pushing power is strong and that ultimate just keeps Yas down. The Q is a projectile, but it casts from the sides rather than in front, so it's kind of hard to windwall properly and even if you did Malz should still be super oppressive against Yas. Only downside is because you push hard, you'll get ganked hard and Yas can snowball from that.

Mordekaiser because Morde just does well against champs that have to be in melee range to him. Pre-Morde also could shit on Yas pretty badly too.. He also have better wave clear and early aggression than Yas. You just have to be weary of ganks like Malz since you'll be pushing a lot to keep up your shield and oppression. Also no skill shots (though his W cast might count towards being blocked but the times it would be applicable to do that are situational at best)

I'mma add to the Malzahar info you've got because you're totally right. Your W can pop his shield and he can take a little more from the field, but your bread and butter is the E, or Malefic Visions. It's a damage over time ability that hits for four seconds and can be applied two ways; Either by a minion dying and him just being too ignorant to avoid being close or you can just click him, it's that simple. This bad boy ticks for FOUR SECONDS, good bye shield and half of his health! Build a item 3151 and run the new Deathfire Touch and you'll be collecting his item 3070 item 3070 item 3070 s in a mason jar to adorn a shelf with.

VaporeonKun1 votes

There is the problem of QSS, but if you shit on him super early on it shouldn't be too big of a problem, then Malz can focus on better targets since Yas will be too far behind and poking with a stick rather than a sword.

TeemoXNidalee1 votes

Malzahar counters him only before QSS, after that he will rape you with his wind dick

There's no such thing as a match-up that you will 100% win, but this one comes close. Yasuo fights immobile tanks or bruisers by going in and out with quick trades. He can't do that against Garen.

Ryze flash/exhaust does nice.

I would think Veigar (not including autoattacks) because he can negate Yasuo's windwall with his abilities. I main Ahri mid and will soon switch to Talon mid and Ahri literally does nothing with Yasuo in the way. And I was thinking Fiddlesticks mid COULD work. I'm just basing this off of a Fiddlesticks I played against mid in my earlier levels but I wasn't playing Yasuo. Anyway ~Best of Luck

Play a melee bruiser against him. Irelia Riven Darius destroy him. ZedFizz also kills him pretty easily though with Fizz it's more of a skill matchup.

Azir, Malzahar in fact anyone who does not mind having someone in their face constantly and/or has ways to prevent it. Cause if you have ever faced Azir with Yasou you'll know how stupid you feel like when you have spammed your E trying to get through his wall while getting stabbed with spears by his soldiers.
