"I am still absolute salt over the olaf rework"
"never before has there been a rework that accomplishes absolutely nothing"
is what one of my peers at another forum has said about the topic. Olaf is the biggest conundrum in league of legends and was around before skarner and nidalee got there follow up changes to balance them out.
For those who dont know olaf was reworked a while back to make his gameplay more "fair" "fun" and overall update his playpattern.
What did we get.
Q got a minimum distance added to it so that olaf cant throw it at his feet and pick it up again at 0 cd and melt someone. It also got a low change that if the axe was thrown a short distance it would slow for less so olaf coudnt perma slow people in melee range (even though it still happens if you play olaf right riot just added a ridiculous skill floor for those playing olaf)
Want to know what would have fixed this problem: Olaf now has a 1- 1.5 lockout time after casting q before he can cast another seems much less complicated than making olaf's playpattern feel like garbage adding alot of extra clicking for much less reward.
W gave olaf even more attack speed (which he doesnt need because of his passive) (meddler has said numerous times that multiple attack speed steroids like aatrox and olaf feel unsatisfying.
Want to know what could fix this? make olafs passive amplify his auto attacks so they deal a percentage higher for each percent health missing instead of 2 attack speed steroids. Is basically the same type of ability except this would FEEL much better
E still toxic in melee vs melee lanes because of its cooldown.... still scales like shit into the lategame because you cant make it strong in lane.
Solution make e apply on hit effects so olaf is forced to take minion agro when he e's someone in lane.
R honestly this one should be up to riot to fix. they wanted to add counterplay but at the end of the day he still has a perma slow and cc immunity (now with a speed boost) so i dont think they knew what they were doing here.
Conclusion, olaf is empirically unfun to play as and against and is not up to the standards of a league of legends champion.....

isn't in the best state, and that his rework didn't try to make him good, so much as make him less unhealthy. However, I feel his kit needs to be changed more integrally than with just a few gameplay tweaks. I think the minimum range on his Q was a good change, since it made its use a bit smarter beyond just throwing axes at point-blank range and auto-picking them up in fights. A lockout period would achieve the same thing, but with less gameplay. I agree that he needs just one attack speed steroid, but Olaf in general has way too many stat steroids, so amplifying his autoattack damage wouldn't really give him interesting power. His W also has a really serious anti-pattern, in that the healing factors into his passive and lowers his DPS (he needs both passives with the kit he has, but they work against each other). I'm not sure his E needs to proc on-hit effects, but it definitely has to attract minion aggro.
