I love Olaf. He is my favorite bruiser. Favorite champ in the game honestly. But it is difficult to balance him.
The issues:
-
His ULT
- He is immune to all forms of CC. That is HUGE. This is the main reason why Riot kind of ignores him/half asses him. It is extremely powerful and Riot most likely feels that if they give him any other weapons (like a gap closer) he will insta kill an ADC/backline.
-
His Q
- Low range, slow moving skillshot very easy to avoid. Small and short slow on it. Necessary to land multiple times to get onto target. You miss once, you are either dead or opposing champ got away. Mana heavy as well.
-
His W
- AS steroid is meh IMHO as it is redundant with his passive.
Other things:
- VERY easy to kite.
- No gap closer
- Looses tanky stats when diving into opposing backline when he ults
- Relies heavily on ghost to be effective at all
- Needs to use "Q" to clear waves quickly
- Needs to build tanky or will get blown up
** - Can NOT stick to target at all**
I really do hope that Riot even looks at him, for their rework did not fix any of the issues that us players were having with him. With the mobility creep, Olaf does not work in league anymore. There are less than half a dozen niche circumstances that he fits into at this point.
