why doesn't riot use PBE to attract GOOD players?

like, why is PBE full of bronze/silver players to test out new items/champs ect.

You can't even get a legitimate game in PBE to test if something is good because the people you are playing against are simply not good enough to make accurate judgments.

Because Bronze and Silver are the vast majority of the player base and thus paying customers as well.

It's to test bugs moreso than balance.

You clearly are missing the point of the PBE. Its my assumption you are assuming the PBE is meant to to see if something is good or bad? At least that is how it sounds to me. That is not what it is for.

It is not meant to necessarily see if something is "good or bad." its mostly used to see if something is "working as intended." You do not need to be high elo to tell if a new item or a champs ability is not working the way Riot intends it to work. For example: Lets use Yasuos wind wall. Lets go back in time and pretend he is on the PBE. His windwall does not block Lux ult. If Lux ulted him and it was blocked by the windwall it would not take a high elo player to see something was wrong here and that the windwall did not work as intended.

If something is found to be extremely under power or over power then yeah they can adjust it before going live but that is not the main intent for PBE, you are basically looking for bugs and glitches. Adjustments like that can always be made in patches, which they do. And whether people agree with those adjustments or not is another story.

As far as seeing if a new item is "good or bad", then yeah i higher elo player could have a better input on them when it comes to certain builds. But builds can change and will change once the item or player that is working as intended go live and are nerfed and buffed if Riot thinks its needed.

With the PBE meant for doing QA type stuff. You really wouldn't want someone who's main focus is mastery and proficiency.

Rather I would give that job to the creative type who would test the totally "off the wall" ideas. "Does this work with that? What would happen if I deployed that here?" Also, seniority may have a better measure than rank, because they know the game's history, knowing all the little tid bits and details.

And even with that, you can still get really weird hitting live before it should. (Does anyone remember release ZZ'rot's? You could deploy it, AFK for a few seconds, and the portal would have demolished the tower.)

it's the only way they could let tank mains play the reworks :^)

Doesn't really matter when riot outright ignores the majority of balance feedback.

Using 90% of the playerbase won't give accurate judgements? Lolok. In case you didn't realize this nothing that comes off the PBE is ever really balanced. The PBE is to make sure things are working properly so that for example you don't have banner of command making it to live and being broken like it was on the PBE. That's why new champs and items tend to be stupidly op when they come out

I think a lot of high elo players have pbe accounts, i think it's just they aren't interested in looking for bugs and would rather focus their time into climbing the ladder.

What are you talking about the PBE is full of diamond, platinum, and challenger players.

The new champs just brought a lot of people in general but most regulars on the pbe tend to be high tier.
