Same, I can't and it annoys me so much. I also don't like how the friends/club chat is setup. I like it way better on the old client.

Well the new chat system saves space inside that one small square, instead of the multiple spammed boxes on the bottom of the client. Also, we get to see the "Typing..." status, which is nice. [zombie-nunu-hearts]

It is most likely the same effect as using a shower you aren't familiar with: It isn't really complicated, but it is similar enough to what you are used to that the differences REALLY throw you off.

I'm not using the beta client, and this is one of the reasons. I soloq 100% of the time, the friends list mostly gets in the way.

There's also a good chance that soloq will not be available on the legacy client. Riot has stated that any new features or queues may be exclusive to the Beta, since they don't want to keep adding things to legacy any more.

There's nothing behind the friends list. The idea is that they're trying to make the friends list area a thing you don't actually want to minimize.

it's annoying though, mainly because in most games you simply don't have friends lists automatically opened without being able to close it in some way, so it's inconsistent with how it's been and inconsistent with other games.

Yeah, I agree. That's what they're trying to change, though - they're trying to change the perception that the friends list is a thing that should be closed.

Personally, though, I agree that people would be far more comfortable if it were minimizable. I think that the friends list itself causes a bit of an info glut - too many names and icons and other things on the screen that you don't want open if you're not trying to look at it.

I queued up for a couple of games yesterday with my friends, and one of them (who had the new client) kept cancelling the queue on accident because they were reflexively trying to close their friends list.

It's a basic UI design flaw. The form controls for the entire client appear over the social panel of the client which naturally makes it seem like that panel could be minimized or closed. To fix this they should add a title-bar like zone to the client and have the form controls there.

I've been using the client for months. I'm not used to it and it still bothers me. If i wouldn't be forced to eventually switch to this anyways I'd just stick with the old one, but I won't have a choice soon enough.

Personally I feel like they should give that as an option, though the chat is much better, and space wise there is no issue, people who have some cases of OCD or just plain don't use the function will see it as wasted space.

I also think they should allow you to view a champion the way they did in the older client, mainly for ARAM. They could put it as a button on the bottom right next to the other Icon.

I would love my item creation list again. Also being able to see my recently played list, even in lobby. Some times it is nice to see if that annoying %%%% is in your group again from last game and to double check.
