PBE Tank Item Changes & AP Champions Suffering
I do not have PBE access and I have been applying for years now. I feel like when you do these class changes to items and to champions, you disregard an entire class of champions because you want another one to shine. AP champions are going to take a very big hit with all of these changes. You are taking away a lot of health, adding more ways to mitigate AP damage and CC, and you are taking away literally the only MR/AP item mages have against another AP champion. You turned Athenas Unholy Grail into a support/shield only item that used to provide MR to mages.
AP Champions are going to suffer a lot because:
- You are adding MR to a few champions.
- You are literally changing the only AP/MR item Mages have to a tank item that essentially does the same thing, but no longer has AP on it.
- You are decreasing the amount of health on items and it doesn't really look like you are giving any compensation to the champion that uses it.
- AP champions have only three forms of magic penetration and that is Sorcery Boots, Void Staff, and Liandrys Torment. Since you are taking away health but adding all these resistances and more MR into items, isn't it going to make an item like Liandrys Torment completely useless because I am not going to be doing any damage against these tanks anymore? Liandrys Torment is based off 2% of the target's current health. Void staff is not going to be as impactful as you think because with all of the self-healing and regeneration you are adding as well, the damage is just going to heal right back up.
This is really going to be a mess for AP champions and they are going to take a very big hit.
You were told last year when you did the Mage update that Mage and AP itemization was lacking any diversity and options. You didn't add any new items specific to AP champions. You took away items away from Mages that they used to use. You literally reworked core items Mages and AP champions used to use in certain situations, but you didn't add anything in its place.
ADC and AD champions can abuse each others items, lethality, armor pen, black cleaver, masteries, runes, and much more. ADC and AD champions have much more diversity in their items and build paths, but you didn't give that to Mages and AP champions. You were told all of this last year and you did nothing about Mage and AP item itemization.
My question to the Developers is, do you have plans to add to Mage and AP itemization to make it easier and more interesting to play against the Mid-Season Tank Updates you are doing? You didn't care last year and it doesn't seem like you care right now. AP champions and Mages are going to become irrelevant in my opinion when every lane is going to have a tank in it that they cannot beat, all because you didn't give any compensation or work done on the class that is going to suffer because of it.
What other MR item with AP attached to it Mages and AP champions be able to use now that you are changing Abyssal Scepter? You already gutted Ahtenas Unholy Grail and made it a support/shield-healing item. I'm worried you don't care anymore. I don't want to see another season entirely dictated by class changes that come at the expense of another one. If you are going to take items away from another class, you better take the time to give them the same dedication you are giving to the other one. You were told about the problems with AP and Mage itemization last year and you were too lazy to address it. Fix it.
