The fact sona can go full ad crit and be useful and viable because of her broken utility and damage levels, that shit is fucking stupid. Both have too much utility. Soraka is just cancer with the healing levels. No champion should be able to heal that much, have slows, and be viable in most manners. I hate when cancer champions are never addressed because they are "support". AP sona is broken as shit. And the fact she can be ad full crit and be viable, that's ridiculous.

No ever champion is fast enough or mobile enough to dodge every attack and as for , you have to get close enough to use it on a ranged champion.

Lol. I'll just assume you're playing ADC since it wasn't made clear in the OP.
Dodging. Ever notice the giant circle that displays before Soraka's Q lands? Yeah, Dodge that. Her kit is literally broadcasting this ability before it lands. It's so much less about the champion than it is raw game knowledge and mechanical awareness.
Only received buffs recently? S6 her W CD early game was nerfed. Also, 2nd lowest HP regeneration in the game.
Grievous wounds. You didn't mention in the post, but I assume you're an ADC. It then follows that in this meta, you're going to be building a bit of lethality (or a percentage item).

One final note - was this a ranked match? Very little information in OP, but you're way more likely for you to get hit by another Soraka Q than you are to ever see this duo lane again (because it's so stupid for so many reasons; also you can't dodge her Q's lol). I didn't lose to them, my team did. But either way ap sona needs huge nerfs. Burst damage is overpowered for a champion with such utility.

and if you are talking about her powercord passive that does bonus damage on hit and when she get lich bane and she is running spell thefts edge ( that does bonus damage on hit) and she runs thunder lords and procs it all at the same time then ya it hurts a lil ... but she isnt broken nor over powered and needs no nerfs

Sona's ap burst damage is really strong, on broken levels. As for Soraka, I just find her op with healing. She is a support, only champions like 
, maybe, would reach her in fights. No one else would make it to her if she plays smart, to stop the op healing.

You probably just faced someone smurfing. She's never gonna be a viable ad. Her range is bad, auto is low and she's squishy and has no escape.
They are countered by hard engage, if you face them in blind pick there's not much you can do. But in a draft pick you can just pick ignite and pick thresh no problem.
Or just poke them to death with zyra.

Excalling should not hurt soraka, i agree, as it is not really a lifesteal type attack she uses. But her healing is still out of control. A champion with infinite healing needs something to stop her.

She really can't heal 24/7 and clearly has 10% self max health sacrifice. If you focus on her then she can't even do damage/mobility to retaliate. Any damage to soraka means she is unable to perform her best since now she can heal less than before so positioning is vital for her and with the damage and mobility creep rising, it's really difficult to play with traditional supp's. Excalling basically is a go-to item to counter soraka and many items that countered specific champs too much were nerfed in the past. While GW is required so champs like mundo, vlad, aatrox don't get out of hand with their self regen and lifesteal, it just counters soraka even worse since 40% reduction to her heals whilst she has 10% max health sacrifice is too much for just 800g item which can even be abused early on in lane.
