Some of the best items are now actually bad, like Abyssal, no more AP, why the hell would that need to be removed? Guardian angel is now only usable for AD champs, Banshee's is no longer helpful unless you're AP, what the hell do we even do anymore?
Sexualsaurus1 votesThe new items give more specific utility, it's tilting af when the whole enemy team had the old Guardian angel. Abysal gives tanks (toplane tanks) a way to combat ap toplaners with the 10% magic damage increase. The old banshee's veil was rarely used and the new one has a more defined purpose as it serves as really great protection for mages from engages(it's not op, just lovely utility).
Overall I think the items are way better now as they have a more specialised role with being less generic which in turn make the game feel that little bit more dynamic.

I still like old GA better, I liked being able to build it on Veigar and still survive.
Masked Lunatic1 votesThese items were put into positions where they were primarily used (or most useful - and then altered to fit that position).
For example Abyssal was used as a defensive / all round mage pick, which was undesirable as it gave both decent offense and defensive stats.
Guardian's angel if used on a tank (which it still can) became essentially a bundle of stats + revive passive but riot's stats showed that adcs were the most likely to need and buy this item so it was altered for that purpose.
Banshees is essentially the Edge of Night for ap champs. Most tanks wouldnt even buy this as the spellshield only blocks a single spell (when a tank usually wants to soak up lots of hits) as such it fit better with the damage dealing mages who are trying to avoid damage.
And it is not that these items are bad they have a different purpose instead of being generalist items.
