3500 is so damn pricey.

It almost feels better to grab something like and just position yourself a bit better in team-fights. The stats were nerfed because it was made cheaper with the AP item rework but now it's gone up 500 gold and the stats were never returned.

The active is damn good but it's a double-edged sword sometimes as it can leave you in the middle of the enemy team and has an exploitable cooldown late game (90 seconds vs sub-60 for most ultimates lategame).

Sometimes you have no choice. For instance, if you're dealing with Zed, you can't afford to pass on it or he'll just annihilate you.

Playing a champion on whom the active and stats are absolutely core? Akali Diana Fiddlesticks Fizz Heimerdinger Karthus Katarina Kennen Morgana Swain Vladimir You'd better still be buying it.

Playing against an AD champion that can't handle the active? Khazix LeeSin MasterYi Rengar MonkeyKing Yasuo Zed Start thinking about buying it, but only if you have your core items first.

Neither of the above? You're probably better off spending your gold on something like item 3026 item 3089 item 3050 that gives you all of what you want in that game without breaking the bank.
