If you're the jungler in ranked and forget smite..

theArtifacts··64 votes·24,737 views

For the love of god be a decent human being and disconnect during the loading screen. Especially right now, since it's during placements. I really wish my loss could be removed but I know it's not going to happen. I wish it is reportable or that junglers get a prompt to take smite. Sadly I know neither of those are going to happen either.

So please. Don't be an asshole. Don't take your team down with you in your error or stupidity. Dodge the game. Allow your team to remake. Be a decent person.

It is actually still possible to win a game without Smite, I have lost before to a team with no Smite because they just kept ganking our Bot lane and getting kills.

I have also lost a game against double junglers because they did that exact same thing to our Bot lane.

Basically if you win bot lane you win the game.

It's possible to win with tank Teemo mid, does that mean we should do it? No, it does not.

I disagree, if you can consistently win with it and can deal with probably no help from jungle, then do it.

Stephenizgod26 votes

No you shouldn't but Riot doesn't stop you from playing Tank Teemo Mid, they shouldn't stop you from not taking Smite either. They should notify you when you are Jungler and don't have Smite, but they shouldn't force it.

They kinda do stop me, after some time I get a nice little message saying I am banned for it.

Only if you don't communicate. They made it clear that if you talk to your teammates and explain what you are doing and they are ok with it, than you won't get punished for doing off-meta picks. That Singed was banned because he refused to cooperate with his teammates, in a lot of his games his ADC was having a really rough time and most of the time his teammates asked him to pick a real support. He ignored them and did it anyways despite the negative effect it was having on his teammates, regardless of the match's outcome. At the end of the day, whether Ranked or Normals, the goal is to have fun. If you are not having fun, winning or losing doesn't matter, the game has already been ruined.

Spoofghoul2 votes

But that singed went jungle and didn't actually support, at least not for the first few minutes of laning phase as i understood it

So that's the same as me picking jungle, not taking smite, and then going mid anyways and ignore my team altogether

Now doing that every now and then won't even get you banned, doing it all the time, well then your just asking for it.

Advice for all players: Use your brain and check your team's spells. If it's that deep and you mentally can't comprehend the responsibility of that then don't. Your jungler forgets smite even though you could have prevented that.

Kilanost3 votes

All they would have to do is make it so that if you forgot smite, you can still by a jg item. When you buy the jg item, it prompts you to replace a summoner spell that you have with smite. The game then alerts the other team as to who just took smite (because they would have had that info anyway).

GayFluffyUnicorn3 votes

If you can't even keep track of your summoners stay the hell out of ranked. Smite is instant loss against any competent jungler.

It helps if you make sure your team checks their masteries and summoners, if they do not change them after you remind them then you have every right to complain. Smiteless jungle is not the end if the world, the jungler make have to tax lanes a bit, but they will have to focus more on helping lanes since farming will be slower and harder depending on the champ. Tanks with aoe should have little issue

Bot lane: -40% of the players in the game, 50%-60% if junglers are nearby (snowball) -squishiest enemies for assassins/AP mids to roam to (snowball) -dragons with strong correlation to winning if killed (snowball) -weakest tower (snowball)

Top lane: -island with some fat purple guy

LordSirChipmunk3 votes

You don't know how much I laughed at that last part about the purple dude.

No. It's Rito fault for tying exp to jungle item/smite. That was the most bullshit change ever.

18 NAKED COWB0YS2 votes

are u blaming riot for the jungler forgetting smite?

its basic.

you're jungle? take smite.

you have smite? you're the jungler.

if u dont have smite and you're the jungler its on you to realize you fucke dup and ur team will pay heavily for it.

Maximum Morde14 votes

Yeah I am. Before the exp changes it wasn't a big deal to not have smite. You just get hard leash and go on your way play a little differently. Presumably the extra summoners could be used to make up in combat strength and you could win through that route instead. I used to run smite less Nunu, Fiddle, Cho, and Warwick just fine. Now it's almost a guaranteed loss cause you'll be lower level than even the support now, and depending on champion possibly not even able to clear your jungle at certain points of the game cause of it.

I think it has less to do with being an asshole or troll and more to do with forgetting... Going duo top until lvl 4 or 5 and then jungling is a more constructive approach here. And don't tell me it doesn't work because I've seen it work every time...

Escheton9 votes

Jungle probably had smite, got a remake. Took smite, got a remake. Forgot. Also, there are 4 others on the team that didn't notice either.

TequilaZombie6 votes

I've lost count of how many times me and 3 other teammates were desperately trying to make our jungler notice he didn't packed smite but he didn't noticed because he was afk during the champ select.

Zelorxon7 votes

How about riot makes a CODE BREAKING IMPOSSIBLE FEATURE THAT REQUIRES AN EQUIPE OF EXPERT CODING MASTERS such as "every role you have keeps the same summs of the precedent role", "if you're going jungle it should warn you that you don't have smite currently selected" (maybe highliting it with a red border), "you keep the same summs on a champion as your precedent game".

I know that doing a txt file for the last option might be tricky since i don't know how the client handles that part, but at least a "per role" thing should be trivial to do.

But i don't expect much from who gutted definitively a champion and called that mutilation "buffs".

Hollowchazz7 votes

riot should just let us pre-set runes/masteries to champs so every time we pick that champ the runes and masteries we used last on them are defaulted (currently it's defaulted to what you used last game)

Imperial Pandaa5 votes

I always try to remind everyone to check runes and masteries before we even begin. [slayer-jinx-wink]

So because they don't equip something that isn't forced on them, and they make a human error, they need to be punished with a leaverbuster?

So because they didn't equip something essential to their role, and they make a human error should be honorable and accept the leaver buster such that their entire team doesn't lose a placement match or LP.

midnight oil244 votes

I've seen successful low-ranked junglers play without smite. It's not forced or necessary.

GayFluffyUnicorn2 votes

Yes low ranked is the key word. These things don't happen in low elo exclusively and you might win with this in bronze but nowhere around plat level

AdeBug5 votes

I've been both on the team with that problem and won, and played against a jg without smite and lost. Don't let it tilt you, there are ways to win this, even if you choose not to duo top, jg can still farm n gank.

Plus like someone else commented, there are 4 people that didn't notice and didn't care to say anything, so they're equally responsible by not pointing it out, preferably not 5s before the loading screen tho. I'm often the annoying one asking players without flash to take flash, or support to have exhaust, you know, standard shit. Wish I could make the adc be the only player taking the loss if they don't take heal as asked, and feed their asses off. But I can't :> Doesn't work like that in this game.

TwinkiePro5 votes

I did this the other day. Forced a loss in my promos so I don't gimp my teammates.

beastly4 votes

Happened to me once, so I took relic shield and went top with Poppy as Udyr 'support', cheesed enemy laner, killed jungler and snowballed to win.

FourVsFive4 votes

It would not be that complex to have a warning pop up if no one on team has smite selected in champ select.

bad arcade kitty4 votes

simply no

leaving means bringing a 100% loss on yourself

playing means you have a chance to win, at least around 40% or so

you are very selfish if you want them to dc

i mean it is definitely better for you, but is much worse for them

i personally wouldn't disconnect, and if you dared to harass me could disconnect at 6

p.s. smiteless doesn't mean a duo lane, it just means you will be significantly behind running the jungle. if possible you shouldn't leech your top early

btw my last normal draft (going to wait with ranked till the dust settles) we had a smiteless jungler diana and we won hard

i myself played another normal draft as a smiteless shyvana not that far ago, we lost but i didn't do that bad too, albeit obviously was significantly behind

40%? lol that's generous. a jungler without smite might as well not be there. its not just dragon control, you have no clear and you get like no exp

they should absolutely DC if they fuck up like that.

no it doesn't lol

not when its 4v5 from the start, not just after you already have a huge lead.

what's wrong with asking someone to take a single loss for the rest of the people who didn't fuck up?

Being an honorable person, you fucked up - accept that instead of being the little bitch society has let you accept being.

btw you could dodge when you saw them smiteless, why didn't you?

No benefit to you - you get the leaver buster for something that wasn't your fault so as the person who didn't fuck up it's in your best interest to do your best to win and hope the failure as a junger doesn't feed.

not to forget you literally ask them to violate the game rules for you

If you were late for work would you speed a little to try and make up some time? Kind of similar in that you're doing a not-so-bad thing to try and make it up to the rest of your team (the co-workers whom you're putting more pressure on by fucking up in the first place)

violating the rules of the game means being a honorable person, ok

anyway my answer simply no, i am not going to do what is bad for me for some randoms

also

No benefit to you - you get the leaver buster for something that wasn't your fault

i mean dodging before the game begins for a minor dodging penalty, also reminding the jungler to take smite in the lobby chat

if you did neither a those, the situation is partially your fault too, so take the responsibility, stop whining and play

note, if you annoy your jungler too much, they will disconnect after 3 minutes getting the same loss and leaver booster penalty (so no difference for them) but also punishing you for being a bunch of entitled jerks giving you a much more guaranteed loss than a simply smiteless jungler. i personally would also reconnect around 20th minute to additionally report you for verbal harassment, reconnecting every 10th minute after that

You can assume the jungler has been reminded about smite. You can also assume that said jungler may be finishing up masteries and about to switch his spells - doesn't give you much time to dodge.

No where did I say anything about griefing your jungler. You're assuming toxic chat towards him for a mistake. Though I may be salty off the start I don't need to yell at him for something he already knows he fucked up. I'm suggesting the player take responsibility for his action rather than bring down everyone around him. I guess you're too immature for that.

if the greater good is actually in your interest, then you dodging will save 4 people, which was your initial suggestion :>

You know, in certain older civilized cultures, when men failed as entirely as you have, they would throw themselves on their swords.

I hate how some people insist on jungling without Smite instead of just doing a duo top. Most useless people you'll ever have in a game.

I think having some time after everyone locks in champions to change masteries etc where the game prompts you do so could be helpful.

Okay, first off -- not going afk is apparently being an asshole? I don't know if you're high or something but the chances are higher to get banned for going afk than forgetting smite. So nobody is going to be a 'decent human' because they spent 30 minutes in queue and are just relieved to be in a game but they forgot smite. You know how stressful jungling is? You make one mistake and you're flamed by people like you. Being an asshole is telling someone to go afk if they've forgot smite. People like you are really annoying in saying that.

To follow your format:

First off, this post was 2 years ago and is still 100% relevant. Secondly, it says to not connect to the game. That's different from going afk once in game. This allows the game to be remade and you can blame it on a comp crash. Thirdly, if you're waiting 30+ minutes for a game to queue, you're lying. Fourth, if you are doing this (and not connecting) enough times to get banned, YOU SHOULD BE BANNED FOR GRIEFING. You are ruining the game for 4 other people when you do it.

And none of this "I forgot" bull shit. The client now switches to smite and tells you automatically (Like I suggested in the original post). So if you don't have smite, you intentionally handicapped yourself and again YOU SHOULD BE BANNED FOR GRIEFING.
