What exactly is a unit of range for this game?

So every range in league is just a number. But for the life of me I can't figure them out. While I have through practice figured out the range all the champs I play regularly, just how big is a square unit in this game?

Using the straight mid lane for example, how far is it from inhib to inhib?

Of a secondary note..perhabs a practice tool that lays down a grid thats like 5*5 grid in the unit measures for figuring out, so from this bush I can shot to x landmark ect.

the default skin for teemo is roughly 100 units.

for every teemo you can lay down is a measure of 100 units

So you know how a 100 centimeters are 1 meter? A hundred units is one Teemo (width of his character model). I kid you not, that is an official measuring unit for league.

Cant... Cant you do this with a dummy though...?

I mean I understand some problems not understanding range/effect radius, ESPECIALLY with items sometimes, but this? These are all easily testable, especially with doing hands-on stuff as well as using the wikia for some referencing.
