How do I fight Zed

Its a miserable experience every time I have to lane against this guy. He pokes harder then I can, and waves clear just as well, usually doing both at the same time. Any time I might get some poke in, the shadows out and away, making follow up to it near impossible. Because I'm trying to play passively and trying to avoid starting all in fights, he often ends up out farming me. Leaving me with the shitty options of either pinging my ass off every time he roams bot (let's be honest, ever roam will be bot) and hoping my teammates back off their laners so they dont get ganked. Or shitty option 2, lose my chance to cs and try to close gold difference by following him, and usually end up getting involved in a bot lane clown fiesta that I don't have the items to do anything useful in.

Why is he so trash in "high" elo and pro play, but such a curb stomp champ in solo queue? I know this sounds like a rant, and it partly is, but im also very honestly looking for some kind of advice in fighting against this guy.

You can't be passive. Fight him every time he uses his W for something other than to run away. It has a long cooldown early game and he is vulnerable right after he uses it. The biggest mistake low elo people make in a solo lane is being passive right after they get chunked. Zed took 1/3 of your HP with a combo? Don't walk away and let him have it for free. All of his stuff is on cooldown now so do the same to him while he is defenseless rather than waiting for 15 seconds for him to do it again.

In draft pick when Zed first picks mid, you can easily counter him with a tank. If they show Zed just go something like Maokai or Nautilus and you should never die. I personally like Nautilus as a counter pick because he can hard shove waves making it so Zed can't roam and get kills elsewhere.

one little tip i have is to do whatever juking you can after he ults you(like right as he becomes visible) to ensure he misses his combo

When he throws out his shadow,** walk back and forth**, he will never be able to hit a q, if u walk in a straight line or dodge just once he will hit you with double q and electrocute every time which is a big chunk of your hp. Respect the level 6, miss some cs if you have to and ping your jungler to be close when he has ult, because he will inevitably all in you. Don't take stopwatch unless you want to go inspiration, otherwise dont go inspiration just for it because by the 10th minute mark he would have had time to ult you ~3 times and if you have died all 3 times it's basically over by then, so take other runes that give you more strenght. If you just get hit by poke, get an ealry armguard, and on very special occassions rush zhonya (if per say the have a rengar jungle as well). Whenever his w is on cooldown (~22 seconds in lane) poke the shit out of him or call your jungler to gank him. If he roams bot, don't stay still mid pinging, shove the wave as hard as you can into his tower, but unless you are ziggs or sth like that that has tower pressure don't go for tower damage because he could be faking the roam to kill youw hen you push. When he ults you throw any cc or damage behind you. Basically thats how you lane vs zed, and honestly it's not that hard to do if you know what zed does. Me having a lot of zed experience helps me beat zed every time in lane unless they are extremely good at the champ, which is very rare, especially in lower elos. I am kind of sabotaging fellow zed players here but oh well
