Basic attacks should never out-damage abilities.

Basic attacks should not be the most powerful ability in the game. Basic attacks should not out-burst a caster at full build. Basic attacks should not define an entire class of champions. Basic attacks should not be capable of 800 damage every 0.6 seconds

What is crit for again? Can someone tell me what its for, when we have attack speed and %HP damage? Can someone tell me what purpose crit serves, when ranged AD champions are meant to siege and take objectives? Can someone tell me what purpose crit serves with a ranged AP champion such as thresh, or a melee AP champion such as blitzcrank is viable AD as long as he builds crit? Can someone tell me why crit is needed when armor and HP are nerfed every season? Can someone tell me why crit is needed when HP regen was nerfed to the point of uselessness? Can someone tell me why crit is needed when ranged AD itemization is the strongest its been, ever? Can someone tell me why crit is needed when tank itemization is the weakest its been, ever? Can someone tell me why crit is needed when the game format was tweaked to shorten games?

What is your reasoning for this? You say "should" like there's some sort of good reason, but you only state your opinion and no facts.

... Because its common sense? o.o its the difference between damage per hit and damage per second. A grenade will do more damage per hit than a pistol, but a pistol will do more damage per second.

Do you think its right right, that at full build, an AD-crit champ deals 700900damage with something like 1.25ASP? thats something like 25004000+ damage every 5 seconds. Whereas a caster champ pumps out maybe 2000 per full rotation, including their ult.

What we have right now is like a rocket launcher that shoots two rockets per second. It also doesnt match the role of the class; which is to siege and take objectives. You cant even crit towers... Its a relic from an era when penetration and armor were extremely strong, and the average build for an AD carry was something like 300~350AD.

How about we reword this a little bit?

If all abilities are skill shots, given the continued rise of mobility, then they should have a higher damage than auto attacks. The reason being that auto attacks are targeted damage that cannot miss (excluding Braum Yasuo ). Abilities are becoming harder to hit, meaning that if they deal less damage and have the potential to even deal 0 damage, they need to be compensated by increasing their average DPS, under the assumption that you will not land 100% of them.

Given crit strike, i think this is actually fairly valid argument, auto attacks are a source of consistent damage, which scales really well into the late game, BUT when you add the mechanic of critical strike into the mix, then all of a sudden (given sufficient crit strike and/or luck), you have a champion who can deal more burst damage than a mage (even assuming landing all abilities), while being more reliable and consistent damage, even in the mid game.

Similar logic applies to even just comparing AD casters to AP casters. AD champions have a source of consistent reliable damage which AP lack, meaning that if the champion has more mobility and/or stick than the mage has escape/CC, but then also has spells which scale with AD, then they have every advantage. They have approximately equal burst, higher consistent damage, and more positional control over the fight. AD also has stat advantage, they get lifesteal (which let's be honest spell vamp is useless on 95% of the AP champions) and their gear is better itemized.

Attack damage scale into late game.

Ability power scales into mid game and mid-late game.

This is why mid lane is typically mages (assassins are the exception). They level up faster, hit that time of the game where they're strongest, and roam and help other lanes.

After the 30-40 minute mark, the adc takes the spotlight.

It's balanced because everyone has a part of the game where they shine. You set one adc too far behind, and your team has a significant late-game advantage.
