League of Legends doesn't need more champions right now

Making more champions when there are still tons of bugs and imbalances with the ones he have now is ridiculous. We're on our 122nd champion. There are plenty of options for gameplay. Riot needs to settle down for a bit and figure out what is wrong with the game and fix it. There's obviously something wrong if there are champions that see the light of day 1/1,000 games. Poor Galio needs some love. And an equally big problem is champions that are at risk for skin cancer since they're in like every game. #SaveGragas, right?

Also, Riot needs to stop looking at champions individually and take a gander at how the team comp affects the game. If you see a consistency that shoved out certain strategies or gameplay, then there is an issue. Something like CC. It's fine, but you can have a legit team comp that stacks CC and there's no way around it. You can get out of 4 at the most unless you're playing GP (and he's just 5) or Olaf. But you can easily have 14 difference CC on a single team. What's the counterplay? You get hit once and you can die quicker than you can press cleanse and use your escape. It's not fun. Work on it, Riot.

WE are getting a champ once every 3 to 4 months. That is a fine release time peroid. The people that do champs are not the ones that do balance.

I think their is a better argument that the balance team was slacking for a a few months considering how many changes were in the last patch.

We get a champ every month, dude.

The last new champ we had was Braum at Release date 2014-05-12. Velkoz was the one before that at Release date 2014-02-27.

Now you could add in the reworks as new champs i guess but i would not. That is when Riot says champ not working and needs to be rethought out. The balence team has nothing to do with that work either til said champ is ready to be published.

The amount of champs is a bad reason for game play balance issues(if riot ever used that). Part of the problem is that riot is changing systems mid year and (AD item update). Odds are the balance team are aware of these system changes and are under direction not to adjust things since they will have to readjust after the system change happens anyways.

The fact that the last patch had 30ish different champ changes shows what they could be doing.

The game will never be prefect balance. It evolves every season. Major changes should only be after worlds. Though Riot (this season) is adding things and changing stuff mid season which is hamstringing the live team.

Ah yeah, you're right. I totally lost track of time. I thought Braum was last month. And I thought were were still in like mid July. Haha.

Still, you understand there's a problem and they're not putting the right amount of effort into the right things. They have too many people doing too many different tasks. And I think Gnar is just going to exacerbate the situation. My point wasn't that they're making champs too frequently, but that they're making a new champ in the middle of this enormous imbalance in the League and it's really hurting the state of the game.

The only thing i can comment on is that the game will always be imbalanced in some ways. stopping all champion developement in lieu of an eternal process will only hurt the game.

That said, I agree that some things are more important than new champs, specifically the problem with melees vs ranged.

Also, sorry to add on to another post, getting so many new champs makes it much harder for the balance team.

At the end of the day Riot is a company, putting out a new champ with a flashy skin and a high price point makes people buy RP. I know I'm gonna get the new Gnar skin at launch.

Reworking and fixing the current champions is great for the competitive scene and for the player base as a whole, but they gotta make money too :)

Ed2Cute1 votes

I know I'll buy Gnar off of just my IP alone. Idk if I'll get the skin.

And it's a trend that companies that focus way more on making money vs. making quality start to go under.

Yet another moron complaining about something they understand absolutely nothing about. Riot isn't a pair of dudes in a garage coding things individually. They're a company. With a bunch of people with a bunch of specializations. There are teams for champion development, the balance team, the champion relaunch team, etc. If you honestly think Riot should just fire their development teams until the game is "balanced" (Spoiler alert: It'll never be balanced, it's an ever-changing metagame and that's kinda the whole point) you have severe mental disabilities you should be looking into.

Right, I don't know anything about the game I play every day for nearly 3 years.

I know that there are problems. I know that, in order to fix problems, you must devote resources to them. I know that if you shouldn't keep pumping shit out of nobody likes your current product. Either they remove the champions that are wasting space, like Galio, or they fix them. Until then, it just makes the game seem worse and worse because they're ignoring blatant problems.

You quite clearly don't if you can't even understand EVERYTHING I SAID.

Read it again. The whole thing. And actually try this newfangled "reading comprehension" thing all the kids are trying these days, you'll go farther in life. Riot consists of more than one person. Multiple people means multiple things can be done. You cannot have 150 people all working on the same thing. That's a waste of time. Nothing will be accomplished any faster you delusional, ignorant moron.

You're reducing yourself to insults. Work on formulating a civilized argument or you just end up sounding like one of those feminists on Tumblr that are only popular because people think they're retarded.

More than one person doesn't mean you can work on more than one thing. You clearly don't know anything about programming or developing if you think one person can handle it all. Much less handle having other people in other departments making their own changes that you have to keep up with every day. Put a pause on the shit we don't need (like more small pox in top lane or jungle), and focus on fixing the primary issue.

If Riot REALLY cares about their players, they'd fix these things. Every time a caster says something like, "Jax is just SO strong late game" they're basically saying that champ is OP, because he can fucking 3v1 the enemy adc, mid, and jungle. But they're not allowed to call something OP. So they have to give us subtle hints, such as, "WOW! THAT RENGAR JUST 100-0'D TWO PEOPLE ON LMQ IN 2 SECONDS FLAT!" AKA: no fun.

We're on our 122nd champion.

Gosh.. gnar is the 119th..

Why do you think they have decreased the rate of release? Because we dont need that many new champs. But like any other game, league does need new content every once in a while, more than patch balance tweaks.

Ed2Cute1 votes

I'm pretty sure he's the 122nd. That or my 10 rows of 12 champions each in the game client is lying to me. Which actually makes him the 120th anyway. :l

Worgslarg1 votes

According to the wiki, braum is the 118th, so gnar is the 119th

Ed2Cute1 votes

According to math, Gnar would be the 120th. I mean, that is what 10x12 is. And I do have 9 rows of 12 champions, and 11 extra. So Idk what to say about that.
