How to overall improve

Before you read this, sorry for the long paragraph, I just want you to be able to understand my position and what im reaching for.

I've been playing league since about the beginning of season 5 I guess. Honestly I'm not completely sure because until I hit level 30 I didn't even know what a season was. But anyway, I can obviously tell that I've improved AMAZINGLY compared to say, when I was level 20, or something like that. However, In the past few months (playing consistently) I just can't see any improvement. At first I thought of it almost like weight lifting (not trying to be a douche because I don't even lift weights) the longer you lift weights, the more effort and more time it will take for you to build muscle. But I'm hoping thats not it. I mean I can't go from playing 1-2 games a day, skipping a few days here and there, to playing 6 games a day. I just don't have the time to play that much. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean I'm not willing to put effort into improving, if that means spending and hour looking over a match(If you think that will help?). Most youtube videos just say, keep playing, find champions you like(I play every role, although im best at mid, so I like alot of champions), all the usual stuff. During preseason 6 I was ranked gold 4, but I think that was somewhat lucky because I had very good teams. I haven't ranked yet this season so I'm just going to go out on a limb and say I would probably be ranked mid silver, silver 3 or 4 I guess. So once you've reached that point, how do you become better besides just playing more? I'm not asking to be able to carry every game. I just want to be able to play consistent and in the majority of my matches, go positive, even if its like 5-2(you helped the team) instead of 5-5(mediocre) or in bad cases 5-10(you kind of fed, unless your supp).

Also keep in mind, with a few champions I seem to always go positive, like veigar, I'm just really good with him so I pretty much always go positive, but I don't want to have to play a champion in 60 matches to do good with them. Like thresh, I have him level 5, but I'm not very good with him.

Well, let me start by saying that I am far from being the best at this game so you may want to try and get more information from someone better than myself. I actually have never actually been ranked, but that is because I have never played a ranked match. Who knows where I would be. I always say I'm going to try it but never do. I honestly just enjoy trying different build ideas that I think people rarely try, otherwise just have fun.

However, just from looking at your last 20 matches, I did notice one pattern. It looks like you tend to have one of the lower gold incomes on your team. Now, I don't know if this is a really fair stock of games for me to derive my advice from since you mentioned that you prefer mid lane and most of your last 20 have been supports and tanks. However, just going off of that, I will say that one of the things that I had noticed helped me to improve significantly more than I thought it would was to put much more attention into how to properly cs. Now, of course being a support, you aren't really supposed to be taking creeps from your carry, and as a tank, last hitting can be difficult, but if you can find any way to improve your income, you will obviously be able to afford more stats in order to keep up with the rest of your team. This isn't meant to be a negative criticism. Everyone can always improve on their csing. Pros even miss some once in a while. I'm just saying that focusing on that really helped me when I was struggling, so I think it would be worth you looking into.

I realized that I didn't really give any actual examples as to how to squeeze out those little extra bits of gold. I'm not sure if you already do this, but when supporting, two things come to mind. First, any time that your carry has left the lane, take it all. If they aren't in lane and you're not backing or roaming, you should be farming. Hold the lane by freezing it and last hitting minions to soak up all of that gold and exp. I honestly hope that one was obvious, but it was still worth mentioning. Second, keep an eye on the minions as if you were csing. If your carry seems uninterested in last hitting them, or is not in a position to, go for it. Of course you need to keep an eye on them as well to try to keep them safe, but if you can pick up that gold that they would have missed anyways, they really should not complain.

As for last hitting in general, .. I honestly still have trouble with this, but one thing that really helps me with champions I am not used to last-hitting with is to left click on a minion and look at how much health they have. By knowing how much damage my abilities/auto attacks deal at that point in the game, I can take note of how low the minions health bar appears to be when my attack would kill them.

Thanks for the reply but that's not exactly the help I'm looking for. I'm by no means perfect when it comes to cs, but I like think I'm pretty good at csing. If there were stages of csing, 0-no cs, 1-you didn't try, 2-newbie cs, 3-average cs, 4-your starting to really get it, 5-pro cs, 6-PERFECT cs. I would say im a 4. If you read this and think, if you got to 5 you would reach your goal of going positive every game, then by all means please say so and I will focus on that, but I just don't think improving my cs is the best use of my time at this moment(also I do cs as supp if my adc is away). I'm looking more for tips on mechanics, like perfecting freezing a lane(idk if that actually improves your game that much) or pay extreme attention to positioning. I'm guessing both those things could help me improve but I'd like to know if there are other things that people have done to help them become consistently good. Seriously thanks for the reply though, any advice that has helped others improve is welcome.

Thanks

Yeah, those things are good, but it would be very difficult for myself, or most likely anyone to actually give you that sort of advice without actually watching you play or at least knowing which champion you are wanting to improve with specifically. I honestly would say that improving your csing is critical and will help you in the long run, but you may be right. I did look at a few other things and the only other thing I could really see to comment on was that you do tend to place a lot of wards, which is great. Definitely not a criticism because that is something that I think I would do poorly on in a ranked game. I honestly don't know man. Again, just in my own experience, that gold difference is much more important than I ever would have thought it would be. But overall League of Legends has a very steep learning curve. I struggled for the longest time to even get more than 10 kills against beginner bots, ... let me tell you that is embarrassing to admit. Then one day I sat down and something just clicked. Just keep at it.

Well specificly, I guess, I've just been playing bad as supp. Mainly I miss skillshots like a hook with thresh or stun with lux, and when i do land a hook or stun, it just doesn't result in a good trade.
